COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional amber-red lager first served in 1810 in honor of the Bravarian Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. This lager is brewed using Vienna& Munich malts for a full bodied malty flavor and aroma.A light toffee flavor complements its creamy texture, finishing with a nice toasty finish.

Growler shared by Kyle, thanks! Poured a clear orange amber with a white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma had notes of sweet grain and bread with a bit of spice to round it off. Flavor was similar with sweet grain and cereal as the main notes and a bit of spice to make the beer interesting. Nice and creamy on the tongue.

On tap at Kuhnhenn. Medium amber pour. Biscuity. Nice bitterness balanced with malts. Some toastiness. Overall a pretty good marzen. April is a rather odd time to have it on tap however

Poured a light amber color with an off white head. Aroma was really sweet and nutty. Flavor was overtbearingly sweet, really malty and some toffee and caramel notes. Not too great.

On tap at the Kuhnhenn Brew Pub. -Oktoberfest-. Poured a medium amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of breadiness, toffee, and some nuttiness. Tastes of bread, toffee, nuts, and caramel.

On draft at the brewery. Very disappointed in this one, it just does not smell or taste like much. Very mild aroma of malt, and barely-there taste of malt and caramel. Very watery mouthfeel.

Draft at brewpub. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium toasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Objectively speaking: Clean, bready and highly drinkable lager.
I like: Well-extracted toasted vienna malts with an almondy nuttiness. Leafy hop finish. Not too grainy. Highly drinkable.
I dislike: A bit juicy in its malt character that feels a bit overly fruity and not all that crisp, making it less drinkable than it deserves. Relies heavily on the bread flavours, which are a bit simplistic.

Sample from WBF in Durham. Didn’t realize this was a relative rarity. Bright amber orange pour with off white head. Nose of baby powder, oranges, and malt. Fruity and sweet for an Oktoberfest with some hop character and graininess. Distinctive for the style.

Ruby copper pour with a thin tan head. Fruity/caramel aroma. Grainy flavor with a twist of hops. Sweet caramel finish

Pours a copper orange with a thin head. The nose is surprising, pretty sweet and fruity, mild lager characteristic, some leafy hops. The flavor was sweet, grainy, some lager feel to it, malty, lightly grassy. The palate was crisp and a tad flat. Finishes sweet.
