Bottle from Kuhnhenn. Pour is red/orange with a large pink head that fades quickly. Aroma and flavor of cherry pie, sour mix, light caramel, and booze. Finish is a bit hot, but not bad for the ABV.

Bottle receiver as extra in trade. Thank you umich03jm! Pours hazy reddish brown with a rather small reddish beige head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, sour and fruity with dark bread, caramel, lemon, cherry juice, hay, soil, moist wood, barnyard, lemon zest and hints of balsamic vinegar. Taste is sweet, slightly sour and fruity with dark bread, biscuits, lemon juice, cherry juice, moist wood, moist soil, hay, barnyard, leather, kumquats and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, tiny dry, tart, tiny boozy and medium to fu bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and sour with dark bread, caramel, butterscotch, lemon, cherries, moist soil, moist hay, moist wood, barnyard, kumquats and lemon zest. Really cool! Very balanced which I didn’t expect. Perfect sweetness, sourness and fruit juice mix. Yummy but no way it’s 12+% strong.

’11 Bottle in January ’14 from flandersned-thanks, Steve! Muddelled brown red. Huge tart cherry nose, light mustiness. Full bodied, sweet and sour pure cherry flavor, light spice. Cherry overwhelms whatever oud bruin characteristics this might have, but for the purity and intensity of it, I can forgive it. Kind of blown away how much fruit is still on this 3 years in.

Bottle: Review based on 2010 vintage @ about 3 years old. Rich walnut color. Ruby borders, darker mahogany center. Chubby, light-tan head rests on top, receding pretty quickly to nothing. Swift kick of sour cherries on the nose up front, layered with toffee candy, sweet molasses, mild black licorice, warming sherry-like booze, & a nice waft of musty lacto. First sip is even more tart than I was expecting. Incredibly tart. Sour. Huge black cherry flavor, borderline puckering, over a blanket of devistatingly sweet malts. Toasted caramel, buttery toffee, mild anise, molasses, sherry, blackcurrant, faint vanilla, & a nice finish of red grape & cherry skin that provides a drying, vinous, nearly tannic feel on the aftertaste. Slightly acetic with hints of balsamic vinegar that never overpower. Much more complex than expected. Newer (younger) vintages are not as sour but should evolve with time. Either way, unique & delicious beer. Great stuff. So, so dope.
