COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This mead was made with the orange blossom honey. A faint smell of citrus can be found in it’s bouqet. Two years of aging was required for this traditional style of mead.

A very good, unusual mead. Sweet aroma with mandarin oranges. Medium sweet flavor, with some yeast, flowers, sugar, and honey. Its a shame this is no longer available.

Thanks go out to Alister AND Guerde for the tasting last weekend and for the chance to taste this. This nose was light and not very descriptive. Is wasn’t bad but just not real heavy. Lightly reminescent of my days as a Florida Orange picker before I lost my job to you-know-who. Flavor was a lot sweeter than the Apis and the citrus was a neat way of adding something to what could have been a simple mead. Very interesting mead.

(bottle, thanks OSLO) Pours clear light gold with decent legs on the glass. Smell is pretty nice with a lot of sweet honey, but there’s a bit of floral scent along with some orange. Taste is very good, with a lot of sweet honey, and a little bit of alcohol that makes its presence known. Fairly full mouthfeel that leaves a lingering finish. This is definitely a quality mead.

[’06 Bottle, thanks Ibrew2or3!] Pours clear pale golden. Aroma is honey with some nice floral fruitiness definitely evident. There is a good balance between the alcohol and the honey sweetness in the taste, but I did find it to be a little simple. Good mouthfeel and a fairly long floral, fruity finish. A well-done mead.

OSLO and Guerde’s Memorial Weekend Tasting, 5/23/08. 2006 vintage. Thanks to OSLO and Guerde for this one! Clear light yellow color. Solid aroma of oranges. Light honey body. Floral and hints of orange. I tend to dislike Orange Blossom honey, but I like this mead.

Poured from a 375 ml bottle, vintage 2006. Clean white grape appearance. Heated sweetness of floral perfume, orange, cinnamon, honey, and guava in the aroma. Hot tropical fruit and flowers. Bit of musty wood wafting dusty attic funk. Flavor is a warm honey and floral, musky perfume reduction with fruity touches of pear, apple, melon. Still lively and zesty, though somewhat noticeably hot; a mild, fairly plain alcohol flavor winking with a bit of vanilla. Soft balance. Palate is firm and oily, caressing and full. Lightly spicy finish with lasting sweetness. Intimate touch. Thanks Alister!

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2008 Sampled at OSLO/Guerde’s Memorial Day tasting. Shared by OSLO and Guerde. Pours a clear straw mead color with no bubbles or film top. Aroma of sweet honey, a touch of oranges, apples and some sugar. Taste is traditional mead with some citrus character, a touch of butter and apples. Finish is sweet, honey, apples, pears and a sweet sugar aftertaste.

2006 bottle from miketd - thanks! Light yellow/gold pour with some light lacing (-1 on look because it had stuff floating in the bottle - not to be a dick, but a still mead like this should be crystal clear). Light aroma of OB honey with some faint apple and citrus. Flavor has a light honey bite with some apples, citrus, and sugar. After warming and leaving on the tongue it develops an interesting cinnamon bite reminiscent of tupelo. Mouthfeel gets better and better. Pretty good job with a basic honey varietal.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2016 2002 bottle at the brewery. Pours a light golden/honey yellow with no head. This mead is uncarbonated. Smells lightly sweet of honey and melon. A faint whiff of lightly sweet orange jam, alcohol and vanilla all mix together. I was not prepared for the flavor. Rich does not even say it. Sweet, powerful, pervasive. Honey, almond, marmalade notes on the finish. Full bodied, smooth and delicate on the palate. Some alcohol notable on the finish. Just an incredible experience. I could drink a bottle of this stuff in about 5 minutes.
Rerate on draught, 5/5/16 at the new location.
Very cool to come back after so much time and see this beer still in production and served carbonated on draught, no less!
It didn’t disappoint either. While I’d like a bit more to make up my mind, I’m leaving the numbers untouched. This is still supremely flavorful, clean, and shockingly delicate for its strength. Orange blossom/rose water notes abound, with soft honey and light pepper characteristics. The carbonation breaks up the intensity of the mead, somewhat, which is interesting. Alcohol nicely concealed. Awesome.
