Poured a deep reddish brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of mocha. Medium body, the flavour as the aroma, a bit of ash and a sour hint. Suspect the beer lines weren’t properly cleaned after the sour beers in Beer Temple the previous week.

Very good Porter. It feels mellow and is an easy drinker at noon but it’s still jam packed with flavor

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big roast, coffee, chocolate notes, some ash into a bit of earth, spicy notes with a hint of dark fruit and a slight anise note. Taste was a mix of cocoa, roast, coffee into a slight smokey, ashy note, slight dark fruit, finishing bitter, roasted.

Tap @ Kuhnhenn:Jet black & silky pour with a small, khaki colored head perched on top for a short while. Huge roasted aroma with plentiful malts, char, & light smoke. Little bit of dried cocoa dust & a hint of ash. Mouth feel is a little thinner than expected, but still has some creaminess to it. Heavy roast on the palate as well with a modest campfire-like char & ashy tone. Some balancing sweet flavors come out; mild baker’s chocolate, prune, & a hint of red grape. A hint of toasted nuttiness lingers in the finish with more notes of heavily roasted dark malt. Don’t get many hops out of this one, but they aren’t necessarily missed. Good porter.

On tap, poured into a sampler. Clean and floral notes come through on the nose initially, which includes a roasted quality, some earthiness, a dark fruit aroma, and some wet cardboard too. It pours a dark, murky opaque mud brown color with a tan, uneven, soapy head. A fuzzy, wispy island and moderate ring is left behind and the glass is fairly clean as the lace is runny. It’s a medium sweet beer with just a touch of bitterness. The light-medium body has a thin yet sticky texture with a buzzy carbonation. Burnt coffee, cacao, and raisin flavors come through on the palate and it finishes with mostly a dry cacao character. There’s some cacao with ash in the aftertaste, as well as a funky penicillin touch buried in there.

From notes. Finally getting around to adding beers from the Ypsi Summer Beerfest! Enjoyed on July 25. The pour is dark brown with a thin, lighter tan head and a decent lace. The aroma is heavy on chocolate and caramel malts. There is also a light coffee note on the back end. It’s pretty plain, but pretty decent. The flavor is a little more hoppy than I was expecting, but it’s well received. The malts are sweet, and there is a little chocolate. Not too bad. The mouth feel is a little light and there is a sweetness to it. The aftertaste isn’t too bad, but it quite dry.
