Sample at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a medium compact light beige head that diminishes slowly to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of biscuity malt, hops, caramel and chocolate. The finish is malty with a roasty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Growler thanks to beeryum. Poured an almost opaque black color with a ruby edge. Roasted malt aroma with a nice amount of coffe nose. Flavor continued with the roasted mlat and a bitter finish. Mouthfeel was a little light.

Chocolate, roasty and herbal notes to the aroma with some hints of liquorice. Opaque brown body with lighter copper highlights is topped by a low but lasting tan head. Somewhat grainy flavour offers floral and orange hop notes, chocolate-like malty character and a lasting roasty bitterness. Medium-light body with moderate but soft carbonation with a creamy texture in the mouth. Sampled at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Fest 2005.

Tap at the Blind Tiger. Dark brown with a small head. Aroma is chocolate coffee, carbon, bacon. Full bodied, with a carbonic flavor; light chalk, dry meat. Hmm. Not bad.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2008 Draft. Aroma of chocolate, hops, and malt caramel. Tan head and black hue. Flavor is average porter. Looks great and tastes better than it smells but still an average brew.

On tap at Kuhnhenn. Dark brown pour. Roasty chocolate aroma. Very hoppy porter. Hops dominate. Big roastiness followed up by big hoppy finish.

On Tap, pours dark almost pitch black with dark brown around the edges of the glass, Kuhnhenn has the Porter in regular (carbonated) and Nitrogen, I got both, nitrogen Porter delivered hardly any bubbles, the mouth feel is flatter or you might say less filling on the palate then the carbonated Porter, carbonated Porter gave a foamy tan to dark tan head, I prefered the carbonated Porter, a head on a beer glass looks more appetizing and helps to bring out the flavors some as in brighter on the tongue, aromas of roasted and some dark roasted malt with chocolate and faint coffee fragrances, good amount of roasted malt and chocolate with faint coffee flavors here and there, some sweetness, I prefer Porters with a little more sweetness, some hop bite at the finish seems to bring out a coffee bitterness on the palate, a very tasty drink.

Tap at Blind Tiger: Very dirty, muddy, yeasty pour with a tan film of head. Milky, chocolaty aroma with a nutty note. Has a creamy body with a nice dark crystal malt flavor. Some milk sugar notes, lots of toasted notes, mild husk and a cocoa touch. Nicely hopped back with a peppery note. A nice milky porter.
