Brewed with 70% Pilsner malt, 30% Michigan raw organic Wheat and bittered with German Hallertau. German hefeweizen yeast was first used to ferment the wort followed by secondary maturation on 3 strains of Brettanomyces infused with montmorency cherries. The blueberry version was carried out the same but infused with Michigan blueberries.

Sampled on draft at GTMW 2011. Pours a hazy purple color with a medium sized purple head. Appropriate enough. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy notes, intense blueberries and some cherry. The taste is blueberries, grapes, berries and an earthy finish. Medium bodied. This is what every blueberry wants to be when it grows up.

On tap at the Brewpub during ’09 Winter Solstice. Poured a burnt sienna with a red tint and no head. Aroma was full of fresh blueberries. It was quite one note, but still nice. Flavor was full of sweet, fresh blue berries with a nice tart finish.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Poured a muddy ruby with a thin, diminishing white head. Blueberry cobbler nose. Taste is full of fresh blueberry pie- totally different from Blabaer where the blueberries manifest themselves as a raspberry/cherry blend accentuating geuze and kriek character. Here blueberry dessert is the focal point and comes off a little heavy, sweet, and actually very filling. It is certainly blueberry cobbler all the way with a tart body. But it lacks subtlety.
