4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2010 INSANELY GOOD. Let me just start by saying this is the best fruit beer that i’ve had, its incredibly quaff able and has a phenomenal aroma and follow up flavor. Truly something to brag about as a brewer. Pours a maroon body with an off white lacing. Fresh blueberries and the best puree i’ve inhaled. Fruit smoothies, lush tart blueberries with a sour tart finish. Absolutely delicious this beer is incredibly good. I wish i had more then two of them.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft at 4th Avenue Pub in NYC. This was an absolute sheer pleasure to drink. As good as the cherry version was, it lacked an acidity that would’ve brought some of the cherry pie and chocolate flavors out. This one fixes that issue in spades, dropping in a fantastic acedic acid character reminiscent of a high-quality aged balsamic, which perfectly sits alongside fresh, rich blueberry pie. The combination may sound odd but it works perfectly. Complexity in the flavor comes from notes of grass, hay, strawberry. At times this reminded me of a "blue raspberry" Warhead type deal. Easily one of the best beers of the year. Kudos to the Kuhnhenn brothers for this one!

On tap at Hop Devil Grill. Awesome beer. The aroma is sweet blueberries, sour vinegar, barnyard. Actually a little more sweet than sour. The appearance is a beautiful dark red, opaque, off-white head. The flavor is sweet, tart, blueberry. The finish is a nice mix of sour, tart, sweet. Medium/thick in body. Awesome beer. Great balance of sweet and sour.

Tap at the ’09 Winter Solstice. Murky brown pour with a small, dense, white head. Big fresh blueberry aroma with a bit of sweetness and some grain. The flavor is blueberry puree, cider vinegar, soft oak and a little caramel sweetness. The body is creamy, medium, with lots of tingly carbonation.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at 4th ave pub. Pours a deep violet, almost purple- ruby red highlights on the edges- fizzy head fades to nothing. Aroma is a nice punch in the face with both fresh wild blueberries that have a nice tart mineral-ness, and some herbal earthy hints, and a fresh big luscious blueberry juice and nectar- as it warms some more mineral and slight solvent come out- a slight rubbing alcohol as well, which doesn’t carry over to the flavor nearly as much as expected. Flavor is fresh blueberry juice, blueberry pie filling- jammy, mineral, seedy, earth, and some herbs- somewhat sweet- but natural sweetness, not fake, in the middle- then you get only a slight dried out finish with some tartness- acidity and sweetness in the end mix very nice- only slight solvent comes through with NO alcohol. Extremely easy to drink- low carbonation and a moderate acidity make it borderline chuggable. We downed a few glasses of this in 5-10 min. Soo freakin good- unique too. Kinda what a NG fruit beer would be- like the RT and BR- just a blueberry version. Very well done- I liked this better than the cherry.

Brownish plum color small white head fades fast. Aroma is awesome. Lots of fresh blueberries, some cakey sweetness and nice semi dry sourness. As it was the real more lambic like aromas come through. Flavor is great. Perfect blueberry flavor and the right amount of sourness. A little prickly on the tongue too. Delicious.

Sampled on draft at GTMW 2011. Pours a hazy purple color with a medium sized purple head. Appropriate enough. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy notes, intense blueberries and some cherry. The taste is blueberries, grapes, berries and an earthy finish. Medium bodied. This is what every blueberry wants to be when it grows up.
