2 oz sample from bottle (375 ml). Thanks to JulienHuxley. 2013 vintage.

Appearance: Clear pale yellow with sparse legs.

Aroma: Nice coconut features, fresh curry, lime, ginger and honey.

Taste: Coconut, lime, fresh curry, moderate sweetness, a bit of alcohol, ginger… wow, there’s a lot going on here!

Palate: Medium body. A bit oily. Zesty. Moderate spices and alcohol warmth.

Overall: I was expecting the worst from this one but this is really good! Good balance considering all this is going on here. Super tasty and flavorful. My favorite mead from Kuhnhenn so far. Color me impressed!

2oz sample, Bottle purchased in March 2013. Clear very pale straw colored pour. Aroma is spicy, curry, banana, coconut, light minty aroma, lime, lots of ginger. Taste is sweet, not nearly as spicy as I would have expected from the aroma, lots of coconut, almost banana, light lime. Palate is med bodied, slightly watery with a boozy finish, a bit thin. Better than I expected.

Nip sized bottle. Poured a yellow color with no head. This one was, well, definitely different. Curry, lime, citrus, and well, interesting.

Bottle - Curry, coconut milk, honey sweetness and some acidity. Clear gold. Tastes just as it smells. Unusual and hit the mark, unfortunately there would be no reason on earth I would want to drink this.

Pours a clear white. Aroma is curry, pepper, and ginger. Flavor is similar, with coconut, heat, and some sweetness. Very unique and quite good.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2014 Bottle: 2011 release, 187ml nip. Bright, electric yellow body with good clarity; completely still, no bubbles at all. Lovely aroma of smooth cinnamon tree bark, light tropical coconut butter, warming potpourri spice, caramel, honey sweetness, & just an exceedingly subtle hint of lime buried in the background. Sweet, delectable nose. Taste follows the aroma almost exactly. Heavy cinnamon up front; lightly spicy but controlled by the mead’s sweetness. Toffee, sweet coconut oil, tropical suntan lotion vibes, a bit of clover honey, & a small bit of citrus zest left hanging on the palate in the aftertaste, thanks to the lime. Strange sounding? Yes. Delicious? Absolutely. This mead is awesome. New batches are not this good, but the nip bottle releases are great.

This is one of those beverages that does well in tastings because it really stands out but it definitely does not seem to be something that a person would actually want to drink in any sort of quantity. It is a lime, coconut and curry mead. It pours nearly completely clear and is slightly sweet, has all the aforementioned flavors and comes off as a bit watery even at its very high alcohol content. If that sounds weird, it’s because it is and I have to admit that it is impressive to make something this strange that is not actively foul. While I have no intention of ever drinking this again, I am happy to have tried and am also happy my sample was small.

375mL green capped bottle. Super pale, almost clear color. It really comes off as Indian curry, a little cinnamon like curry but cool. Not sweet or even honey like. Flavor is super lean, no sweetness with super long dry spiciness. I like it, coolest mead ever.

Bottle pour into a mini snifter. Pours a pale yellow. Still. Big curry spice in the aroma. Pretty sweet coconut, but the spice really dominates.
