Commercial Description:
Real raspberries abound in this chocolate caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture and drinkability. This lager beer will handle additional age very well.

A-Poured into a tulip out of a 6.7 oz bottle from the 2007 stash. Pours a dark brown almost burgandy color with no head or carbonation present. S-has a very rich smell, of chocolate, alcohol and malt. T-a truely one of a kind beer, almost like a cognac with less alcohol. The alcohol does come through, but overall its a chocolate flavor that prevails with hints of raspberries. M-a thick smooth beer. The mouthfeel can really be appreciated as it warms, almost syrup like. D-A great beer, nothing that I would drink a large amount of, but very good none the less. Hard to believe that this beer is considered to be a relative of the common lager.

2007 bottle into a flute. Pours a brown/dirty color with a very small light brown head which quickly vanishes. Notes of raspberry (duh), cinnamon, dark fruits. On the palate, notes chocolate with zero hoppy or bitter notes on the finish, just like dessert. Mouthfeel is just what I was expecting for this type of beer, medium and smooth with a small amount of carbonation, like sorbet with less body. If I had another bottle available to drink, I’d open it up. Alas, this was the only one in the cellar, so one will have to do for now.

14th June 2008. Sumptuos smooth chocolate with a hint of sour malt. Beautifully joined up with fruity non acrid raspberry. Unique and exquisite!

Bottle 2007 Nice waxed cap. Pours a murky brown with bubbles but no real head. he bubbles settle quickly. No real lacing but a ring from the edge of the beer. Aroma is pleasing. I get alcohol, raspberries, and chocolate. Has a light carbonation. The flavor is awesome. Taste like a chocolate raspberry tart. A good burn. Not too sweet. Has a syrupy texture. The body is medium. The finish is great. And the sweet aftertaste lingers well. This may be the beer drinkers desert drink. No more scotch I would rather have this.

2007 bottle thanks to pantanap. Pours almost flat and dark red. Nose of raspberries and chocolate with alcohol present. Taste is complex, with chocolate and bitter rasperries abounding. Alcohol is definitely present. Full body and easy to drink. Unique and well done.

Bottle, thanks to Probstk. Muddy brown appearance with no head whatsoever. The chocolate-raspberry aroma mixed with a bit of alcohol is enchanting. Taste, what to say, this is a raspberry chocolate bomb, strong syrupy and sweet with a long (medicine) finale. Very dessert. Minimal carbonation with a strong port mouthfeel.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. 2007 vintage. Muddy brown in colour with very low carbonation. Huge grainy cereal malts upfront in the nose, along with notes of caramel, chocolate, and a hint of raspberry. Extremely focused caramel, dark chocolate, and raspberry truffle on the palate. Very smooth and warming. Would make for a near perfect after dinner drink. Great stuff.

Broke this puppy out for my 30th birthday. 2007 small 6oz bottle thanks to Northernbrews. Pours murky dark reddish brown with absolutely no head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, berries, sweet caramel, and some booze. Flavor is raspberries, chocolate, sweet caramel, and some malt undertones. Palate and is silky smooth and a little syrupy but that is ok. Finishes sweet and chocolaty. Really good stuff. I love this brewery.
