Pours a somewhat cloudy reddish brown with an off-white head that does at least retain around the edges. Smell is powerful and complex, but I’ll try my best. Sweet with caramel, brown sugar, some chocolate and some raspberry. It also seems quite vinous, I get hints of port and sherry. Raspberry is first to greet my tongue, it’s quickly followed by flavors of port, chocolate dipped dark fruit, and very sweet caramel. I also get a bit of alcohol in the finish, it’s not hot, but it is there. Medium carbonation, medium bodied with a dry-ish finish. An exceptional beer and definitely a sipper, this is certainly worth seeking out. drinkandrive (2), ijamsville, Maryland, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2008 after trying over 80 beers from the top 100 its time for me to start reviewing!

Aroma is of tons of raspberries, some coffee and maybe a little bit of alcohol. Flavor is very much raspberries at the beginning, and then a nice toffee caramel, chocolate finish. Extremely good and complex. sebletitje (1903), Tampa, Florida, USA

This is an ’07 bottle. Hard to believe this small bottle could pack so much to talk about.
Color is ruby/amber. Carbonation was close to nil. A light nose of raspberry, a touch herbal. The aroma reminded me of a thick buttery raspberry. Giving a little creamy raspberry mouthfeel with chocolat/caramel. Bartzilla (443), San Diego, California, USA

This is something I’ve wanted to try for a while, mostly due to all the attention it gets. After dinner treat is right. Very thick, sweet and would probably go well as a syrup in a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Raspberry is there, but I sensed more semi-sweet chocolate. Not really my thing, but I suppose for what it intends to be, it’s gotta be hard to beat. Naka (525), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a deep copper red with a slight beige head that forms for a second then is gone. The nose is a deep woody raspberry prune malt covered in dark caramel. Notes of chocolate liquor as well. A thick bitter sweet taste. Tons of dark chocolate and caramel flavor layered with raspberries and alcohol. There is a little flavor of raisins soaked in brandy with definite mahogany characteristics. Very little carbonation, but a thick, rich body to it. This is a truly outstanding beer that drinks like a port more than a fruit beer. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA

Wow, I did not think I would be impressed by this small bottle, but it certainly packs a punch! Pours a reddish brown with a thin tan off white head. Chocolate raspberry aroma, like a tort or dessert cake. Just an amazing aroma that keeps you from wanting to drink it. Thick malty berry sweet chocolate taste, just stunningly good. An absolutely wonderful dessert drink with the best aroma I have ever snorted. If anybody ever has an extra bottle to trade, ISO!! Nate (2538), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA

Light flowery hop character, but mainly ripe cherry syrup and light estery vapors. Chocolate covered cherries with a bit of caramel. Dark amber clear with a hint of ruby. No head. Medium heavy body, almost chewy, with medium carbonation and quite an alcohol warming presence. Starts with overripe raspberry and cherry, light chocolate and alcohol sweetness. Mild tart acidity, quite sweet but not cloying. Finish is quite warming, with a medium bitter bite. Rich sweet and bitter after. Quite a fruit beer.
