alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jan 19, 2008 Poured a nice brownish red with a smallish head. Aroma was sticky sweet with a nice amount of fresh rasberry and sugar. Flavor was similar; a nice blend of the sugary sweetness and fruit flavor. Glad this one has been unretired and glad I had the chance to try it. toncatcher (228), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA Jan 19, 2008 Shared in the line at the Red Poppy Release by Wetherel, thanks (2004 vintage). Pours a cloudy red amber with no carbonation or head. Aroma of a topping for a nice pancake breakfast, Sweet fruit, and chocolate. Taste much the same. padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Jan 19, 2008 Shared at the Lost Abbey Red Poppy release. Thanks to someone! Very thick pour. Nice rasberrie flavor. Awesome! ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jan 17, 2008 Updated: May 30, 2008#500! Pours brown with reddish hues with no head. Chocolate and raspberries on the nose. Similar flavor with an alcoholic finish. Notable hints of caramel and toffee tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Jan 15, 2008 Updated: Jan 18, 2008187ml wax cap bottle from kryptic. 2007 vintage. While this is quite nice, I do think that it needs some cellaring time to temper the alcohol. Luscious aroma of chocolate covered raspberries, butter toffee, wet wood and alcohol. Pours a thick, cloudy reddish brown with no head. Virtually still. Lifeless but attractive. Alcohol and fruit mingle well on the tongue but never quite come together harmoniously. Toffee, chocolate, wood tannin, raspberry and cherry. Thick, sweet but not cloying. Alcohol notes across the palate need to be more restrained in order to score higher. Time will temper. airforce1 (61), Atascosa, Texas, USA Jan 14, 2008 This is one BIGGGGG beer. Obviously its got a lot of raspberry, some carmel malty notes, and I can’t detect any hops what so ever. The alcohol flavour in this beer is tremendous. Very sweet indeed, and I would kill for this beer to be slightly more tart. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Jan 14, 2008 #400. Courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a dark brown with no head. Aroma is mostly raspberry, caramel, and alcohol. Taste like chocolate covered cherries. Finished with a alcohol presence, then a sweet taste on the tongue. Very good. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jan 13, 2008 2007, Thanks miketd. I couldn’t age it. The initial aroma is awesome. Catch it early because it fades. Pours a cloudy amber. Flavor of raspberries, chocolate and a sharpness I can’t identify. Hides the alcohol well.
