3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared this bad boy at DLD. 2012 vintage served in a Deschutes snifter.
A: Pours a brownish, reddish color with a pretty still body. No real head forms on the pour.
S: Lots of sweet booze and malt with blast of smashed raspberries. Bready malts make up most of the flavor profile in the nose.
T: Tons of sweet raspberry. Much more than nose conveyed. Very jammy in nature with a little boozy heat. A mild burn is there with a heavy, bready malt profile to back it up.
M: Low carbonation with a chewy texture and mouthfeel. Sweet and hot on the finish.
O: This was good, but it definitely needs some time. The boozy notes are right up front and need some time to settle in.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample from bottle. Pours a pale, clear-looking red with no head at all. A big raspberry aroma jumps out of the glass. The taste brings forth more raspberry but a surprising and pleasant amount of chewy toffee and chocolate. Feels a bit syrupy and medicinal but the flavours work with that. This was very impressive.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
2007 bottle graciously shared by Matt B -- thanks! Pours dark amber, no head. Aroma brings out slight tootsie roll, caramel and chocolate. Raspberry is in there, too, which for some reason surprises me after 6 years (despite the name. Taste: Raspberry flavor seems to hit then immediately evaporate (pretty cool, actually - like the taste being carried with the aroma immediately evaporates upon touching the tongue). Raisin and prune follow. Alcohol gets there right at the tail end, and it finishes just a shade tart. Really impressively smooth. Overall: This was a completely unexpected treat.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 26 July 2013) Dark red colour with brief head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of raspberries, vanilla and treacle. Fruity, malty taste with raspberries, caramel, vanilla, candy sugar and a sweet finish with a slight raspberry tartness. Full body, quite thick and oily. Very sweet and slightly sticky. Itís thick, sweet and dominated by raspberries. So itís not the most complex or subtly balanced. But itís still quite lovely.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Ruby red pour with quickly dissipating head. Aroma reminds me of a sort of spiked raspberry jam...in a good way. Big raspberry flavor upfront with the sweet and tart notes coming through nicely. Slow sipper, like drinking dessert. It finishes a bit hot but not bad considering the abv. Very impressive and tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - much thanks to NorthernBrewer! Pours ruby clear red with a fast diminishing tiny pink head. Aroma is chocolate and raspberry. Flavor is about the same, only lightly sweet to my great surprise, and actually fairly bitter on the finish. Medium body, liquer-like in terms of its head and presence, but not its relative low sweetness. Finishes on the dry side.
