4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap, probably newest vintage. Pours beautiful tawny red with a dissipating head. Aroma is heavy on raspberries at first glance, mingling with warming alcohol and pie crust-like sweet malt notes, shadowed by an amazing chocolate note. The pronounced alcohol and strong raspberry makes it more similar to a liquor or cocktail than a beer. Very nice aroma! The taste is also more similar to a liquor than a beer, cause it does not really have any bitterness, it has a huge sweetness, loads and loads of raspberries, and a strong warming alcohol, which are the two main dominant aspects. Some maltiness is tracable, towards a hint of caramel and maybe even chocolate. A real sipper. Drink this in stead of a desert wine or a port, cause it falla more along those lines than your typical sipper beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 vintage. Brownish red hued pour. Not much head. Nose is pretty heavy raspberry, sweet malt, and booze. Taste follows the nose and is very malt forward. Not as sweet as I was expecting. Still a bit hot and I would imagine this would age very well. Heavy on the palate. Very nicely done.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nip at Stephenís. Vintage 2007; fuck yeah. Pours darker burgundy, maroon. Aroma is pungent fig, raison, carmalized plumb, musky, cardboard. Taste is big plumb, sweet dark raspberries, carmalized brown sugar. Finish is dark cherries with a slightly tangy note. Very nice, but not as good as the 2012, too much oxygen and not enough fruit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Eric. Huge thanks for this one man!! 2007 nip bottle. Huge, caramel, toffee, raisiny, figgy, slightly oxidated, dark fruits, red licorice, and stale bready aroma. Taste is much the same - tons of dark fruits, raisins, figs, plums, somewhat tangy, dark cherries, and bready with a touch of alcohol on the backend. Slick mouthfeel with no carbonation. Really cool to try and damn decent Eisbock, but the 2007 may be past its prime.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 2012 Vintage. Thick red wax. Bottle shared by Kraddel @ "I cannot believe that you brought your own beer to a beer festival" @ Modeste 2013. 375 ml. bottle sampled. Dark bright raspberry rhubar, bordeaux, basically no head. Nose is pure raspberry frangipane, raspberry jam cookies, huge, pure jam, very sweet in a good way, pure sugar, once again in a good way,... Warming raspberry cookie taste, caramel, very sweet, white sugar, lots in a very enjoyable way, warming, caramel, thick toffee, hint caramel, biscuite, warming, not boozy, hint chocolate chip cookie, pretty big, hard to do the bottle, syrup, grenadine in a good way. Syrupy body. Very warming. Extremely expensive, nice for a small taster but not repeat drinking. Very candy, desert-like. Extreme & interesting + highly memorable but too expensive experience.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
I had this on-tap at the Kuhnhenn Brewery as part of a paddle.
Appearance: I was shocked to see a little, tiny ring of pink/purple head on this beer. I had seen a few reviews of this beer, and it looked just like a dark black/purple/red color and nothing else. The lowpoint of this beer, but itís also the part of the beer that matters least.
Smell: Flawless. This really smells like a urinal cake... in the BEST way possible. Maybe that wonít do it for you. Alright. It smells like the raspberry that you whiff out of raspberry filled chocolates. This is just full of raspberries with maybe a hint of chocolate... whatever it is, this smells outstanding. Candle, please?
Taste: I noticed that some people called this syrupy thick. Overly sweet. Too much to handle. Really, I thought it was nearly perfect. This beer is most definitely a dessert beer (almost something youíd pour over a vanilla ice cream... actually, that sounds fantastic), but whatever you wanna call it, itís outstanding. Massive raspberry, but itís not so tart/sweet that it becomes cloying.. easy for me to say, considering I had about a 3oz sample of it. Honestly, I didnít find this to be medicinal at all... Thereís also slight chocolate note that gives this a needed extra dimension of flavor... yum. I also have to commend Kuhnhenn for the feel of this beer, as itís not super carbonated (so it doesnít drink like a pop... though I wouldnít expect that given the ABV), and itís not syrupy sweet (which I was afraid of after seeing reviews and the ABV). As for the alcohol in the flavor, I donít get it. All I get is a slight burn in my nasal cavity after I take a sip.
This is a damn expensive beer (About $15 for 6oz at the brewery), but you should include this as part of your sample paddle. This is something that any beer/wine/mead drinker would enjoy, I think.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared this bad boy at DLD. 2012 vintage served in a Deschutes snifter.
A: Pours a brownish, reddish color with a pretty still body. No real head forms on the pour.
S: Lots of sweet booze and malt with blast of smashed raspberries. Bready malts make up most of the flavor profile in the nose.
T: Tons of sweet raspberry. Much more than nose conveyed. Very jammy in nature with a little boozy heat. A mild burn is there with a heavy, bready malt profile to back it up.
M: Low carbonation with a chewy texture and mouthfeel. Sweet and hot on the finish.
O: This was good, but it definitely needs some time. The boozy notes are right up front and need some time to settle in.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample from bottle. Pours a pale, clear-looking red with no head at all. A big raspberry aroma jumps out of the glass. The taste brings forth more raspberry but a surprising and pleasant amount of chewy toffee and chocolate. Feels a bit syrupy and medicinal but the flavours work with that. This was very impressive.
