LeopoldStoch (201), Green, Ohio, USA Jun 2, 2006 I have never rated before...nor do I think I will rate much more. But I just had to get this out in words. This is just an outstanding beer. Thanks Jim! HUGE tootsie roll and rasberry fruit aromas and the best part is that the flavor is the exact same...tootsie rolls rasberries and alcohol. This beer is exceptional and outstanding. I never thought a fruit beer could be produced that was this breathtaking. An absolute must try!!!! marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 2, 2006 2004 bottle from Rastacouere - thanks, buddy. After removing the unique wax seal, I filled a framboise flute with the dark reddish brown lager. There was a small light brown head that dissipated rather quickly, and a strong scent of raspberry and chocolate. This is truly a dessert drink, as the flavor is candy-like -- somewhat sweet with a port-like body, very rich and warming. Next time I’m in Motown, I’m going to stock up on this. Took a bit of effort to get the raspberry-colored sealing wax off the top so a bottle opener would fit. Aroma of raspberries and yeast. Almost no head but still slightly lacy. Full body and light carbonation with a nicely warming contribution from the alcohol. The taste is a creamy sweet port-like pruniness with raspberry, chocolate and caramel. A smooth and well-rounded desert wine of beers. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA May 28, 2006 7-oz of the ’04. Split it, courtesy of BitBucket. Raspberry patch and yeast on the nose. The berry essence comes through clean on the nose. Raspberries lead the attack, along with some prunes. As it warms, chocolate and some dark nut notes emerge. Very velvety, satisfying mouthfeel. Absolutely a dessert beer, though it is alarmingly quaffable (in my case). DewBrewer (265), Austin, Texas, USA May 23, 2006 Thanks to Walt! 6.3 oz bottle. It’s the 2004. It’s is a brown color with a small head. Lots of caramel aroma and yes the raspberry is there but the amazing thing is candy corn. I can’t remember seeing candy corn outside of the U.S. but maybe it is. It’s a candy we have here in the states around Halloween. ANyway it smells just like it! Very interesting. The flavor does have some tartness from the berries and that does a good job of balancing the tootsie roll and candy corn sweetness. Oh yeah, it tastes like tootsie rolls, too. Great beer. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA May 22, 2006 Dark inviting brown red body with a minimal head. Smells of raspberry, molasses, alcohol, more raspberries. I pictured a very red river while drinking this. There should be a warning on this warning how damn good this is and good it makes a man feel. Damn this is smooth and full of flavor. A nice roast raspberry flavor and a clean. I don’t know what you are drinking, but this is probably better. I am shocked at how good this is.

alafito (334), tijuana, Mexico May 20, 2006 6.3 oz mini bottle. 2004. Thanks to Gonzobeer for this one ! A delicious port wine tawney. With finishing notes of raspberry seeds, caramel, chocolate and a hint of lime. It could have used some more lacing and head... i never got to see what color it was... although the carbonation was very nice. Adding to the taste is a nice oak and smoked but smooth lingering in the palate. It could be one of my favorite brews, but i only got a few sips of it. Dont know why they make it so small? Maybe its strategy to leave you wanting more? It worked. Thanks again to Hanz for sharing.
