Commercial Description:
Real raspberries abound in this chocolate caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture and drinkability. This lager beer will handle additional age very well.

Poured a ruby brown with some minor tan film for a head. Aroma was filled with rich chocolate and fresh raspberries. Warming alcohol flavor nice chocolate flavors followed by raspberries sweetness. Finish was warm with carmel malt and some chocolate bitterness. Very nice ..

Édition 2004. Robe brune aux reflets rouges légèrement voilée surmontée d’un très mince filet beige. Arômes d’alcool, de chocolat, de caramel et de framboises sucrées. Saveurs de chocolat, de caramel et d’alcool.

Anticipated this one a lot....thanks to Gonzobeer for this. Strange how damn small this bottle is, I mean make a great beer and bottle it in a size that hardly fills a bathroom cup, thankfully after the anticipation that is the only complaint. Pours out a nice deep brown color that is clear. Slight lacing on the top, but hardly a head to speak of. Aroma is of brown sugar, caramel and some brandy. Taste is nice and complex with some notes of the raspberry, but not over powering. Caramel malts dominate the taste, but it has a nice finish and palate to it. A very good beer.

Bottled (2004 vintage). Clear nut brown. Aroma of cocoa and raspberries. Sweet and liqueur-like with some pleasant acidity coming from the raspberries. Full malty body with some warming alcohol. Lingering bitter cocoa in the finish. Very special. I absolutely love the idea, but I get creepy annotations of Floris Chocolat when drinking it.

Nose is of heavy cramel malt, and the raspberry hits right as you prepare to sip. Looks thickand yeasty. Flavor does not disappoint with a wonderful balance of chocolate, toffee, brandy and raspberry. Finish is malty and full, with a smoothness that belies the weight of an eisbock.

Courtesy of Duane. <P> HUGE chocolate malt aroma with ample sweet raspberry notes. Muddy amber in color with no real head. Big blast of chocolate and raspberry. Tastes like a raspberry truffle indeed. Matta mentioned Captain Crunch (while we tasted it) and I get that too. It’s so damn tasty it’s hard to believe it isn’t just a raspberry chocolate puree. There are mild caramel hints, but this mostly just a chocolate/raspberry party. I can’t detect any alcohol in it just smooth tasty goodness.

Giant thanks to Steve for sending this to Tim and I. Nose has huge caramel, raspberry tort, chocolate, rich malt. Its like those raspberry filled chocolates you get around the holidays. Flavor is caramel, port, raspberry, chocolate, butterscotch, cherry. A bit tart. Caramel/chocolate/butterscotch finish. Wow.
