4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Big thanks owed to Normyk for this long time want. What a special little beer to just give away, essentially.
Split with Ryan011235. Poured into two taster mini snifters.
A- This little bottle is quite the spectacle. Little mini 6.3 fl oz clear bottle, dipped in a burgundy wax that matches the beer inside. The tiny presentation is an interesting contradiction to the huge beer thatís inside. The bottle looked like it was going to turn out flat, but thankfully I am presented with a very small head. It fades down to a collar before disappearing completely. The thick, concentrated beer leaves a solid coating on the side of the glass. The color is a lovely, deep sanguine red.
S- This aroma is in your face raspberry puree. Its very juicy and fresh. It calls forth images of raspberry preserves or a slice of raspberry pie. Although raspberries are the main characteristic here, it is possible to pick out a slight notion of the malts below. I can pick out a slight bit of rich chocolate. This is undoubtedly the most raspberry-strong aroma out there.
T- As expected, raspberry preserves are right in your face. It starts sweet and juicy but moves into a more leafy, wild raspberry flavor. There is a suggestion of tartness with a some bitterness at the finish. A little bit of rich chocolate is blended with the raspberries. Naturally, alcohol doesnt let itself be forgotten but it doesnt crash the party either. Its big and spicy but not bigger than those delicious raspberries.
M- Carbonation starts out kinda prickly. It does die down, especially with all the swirling Ive been doing. Once the carbonation has subsided a bit the sheer thickness of this beer can be fully appreciated. Its very syrupy and chewy. The juicy raspberries cling to every surface of the palate.
D- Nursing my little pour is a test. I would have easily been able to drink more than this whole bottle.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled, sampled at The Cotteridge Convention, many thanks to Theydon_Bois for this one. Reddish brown with off white head. Really sweet and jammy raspberry beer, syrupy, quite smooth. It really is the drinkable version of Raspberry Jam. Itís fine but a little too much for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark red colour, off-white head. Aroma of raspberry, cherry, red fruits, raspberry candy, malts, caramel, chocolate and raisins. Sweet flavour, caramel, raspberry candy, concentrated cherry, syrup and chocolate cake. Quite alcoholic, full body. Finish hot alcohol, fruity, sweet. Quite a beer for people with a sweet tooth. Well made and out of the ordinary, still, too sweet for me. Could see this work brilliantly with dessert though.
(from 37.5cL bottle during Oudjaarsticken 2014. vintage 2012. Thanks for bringing and sharing the bottle, JulienHuxley, itís much appreciated!)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 2012 vintage, thnx to lionsandbeer for sending me this! Pours clear pinkish beer without any head on top. Aroma is very fruity, loads of raspberry and booze. Not very complex, but very intense. Flavor has again loads of raspberry, booze but also some sugary notes and even some chocolate in there. Very syrupy and sticky. No carbonation going on here, but very full bodied and great flavors going on here. Aftertaste is very sweet and boozy.
Very heavy stuff, but I love it.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
37.5cl Bottle, 2012 edition, generously shared by JulienHuxley. Clear deep reddish/purplish amber colour, thin pink head. Aroma of booze, sticky raspberry candy, candy, sweet cherries. Flavour is very sweet, raspberry candy, syrup, caramel, boozy, hot alcohol, sticky sweet finish. Full-bodied. Nice as a liqueur, but way overrated IMHO. Very one-dimensional and sickly sweet.

Pours a dark red color, no head. Aroma is lots of raspberry and some booziness. Flavor is tart raspberry and sweet chocolate. Has a wine-like mouthfeel. Warming and soothing as you drink it. Very good.
