TomDecapolis (2346), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA May 6, 2008 Thanks to hopdog and weeare138 for sharing bottles. Pours a deeper amber with golden notes and little to no head. Aroma of milk chocolate, raspberries, candy corn, alcohol, caramel, dark fruits and some vanilla. Flavor was a lot of the same caramel, chocolate notes, honey, raspberry,(but not as up front as I was expecting) and very much brandy like.
m4rest88 (15), Beverly Hills, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 2007 bottle thanks to bman1113vr via pepsican!! really enjoyed this!!! was very different from what i was used to, but in this case different was definitely great!!!!! BMan1113VR (669), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Jul 26, 2008 2007 bottle thanks to pepsican. Pours with a light brown head that vanishes quickly. Murky dark red body with strong alcohol legs on the glass. Intoxicating (literally and fig.) aroma of raspberry, chocolate, caramel, more chocolate, jammy-ness, peaches and sherry. Taste is raspberry jam and caramel. Very super-syrupy mouthfeel. Borderline cloyingly sweet. Reminds me like a very done up caramel and chocolate version of DFH Fort. Alcohol is a bit "hot". Very good, but the bottle size is all that one needs of this beer. colemgm8 (355), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Jul 25, 2008 2007 bottle - thanks to The Beer Cellar for sharing!!! simply outstanding. Huge caramel aroma with some raspberry as well. Pours a dark red with little to no head. Nice full strong body. Really soft over the palate - the raspberry is most noticeable on the front, while the chocolate caramel dominates the mouth. Smooth finish with a touch of alcohol. Really, this beer is outstanding and I feel lucky to have tried it. Thanks Matt! MrChopin (119), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2008 2007 bottle, many thanks to Linus_Stick! Pours hazy, dark red-amber with touches a very small off-white head. The aroma is initially malt sweetness, but raspberries soon dominate. Other contributions include chocolate, faint similarities to apple cider, and alcohol. The flavor is quite sweet, but it remains refreshing thanks to raspberry sour coming with warmth. There is also caramel and a little chocolate with minor alcohol in the background. Though full bodied and dense, the palate is smooth and clean. So while KRE is not the most complex beer, damn is it tasty. KAME (131), California, USA Jul 25, 2008 Not so bueno. Syrupy, malty, fruity, and overly sweet, but not great on my palate. Undercarbonated reddish brown pour. Aroma of berries and dark malts. Strawberry jam flavors with a strong bock backbone. It is smooth, but the lack of carbonation and heavy mouthfeel just didn’t do it for me. It is a bit cloying like a port, and should be consumed in a similar fashion.
