Ungstrup (10853), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 6, 2005 [At RBSG 2005] A muddy brown beer with a small disappearing off-white head. The aroma is very spicy and with strong notes of raspberries, but also with lesser notes of oranges and caramel. The flavor is pretty much like the aroma with a strong accentuation of the raspberries and the spices, that I can’t pick apart. Lovely. Thanks Mike (eyedrinkale) omhper (10141), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 13, 2006 Updated: May 3, 2006Bottled (2004 vintage). Clear nut brown. Aroma of cocoa and raspberries. Sweet and liqueur-like with some pleasant acidity coming from the raspberries. Full malty body with some warming alcohol. Lingering bitter cocoa in the finish. Very special. I absolutely love the idea, but I get creepy annotations of Floris Chocolat when drinking it. Papsoe (9771), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 19, 2006 (Bottle 18,7 cl) Pours a clear, dark amber with a tiny, beige head. Fantastic and complex nose of chocolate, toffee and some sherry-like accents. Extremely full body with some distinct, warming alcohol. The raspberries add a pleasant - yet discreet - fruitiness throughout, but the chocolate clearly dominates. Somewhat sugary finish. Extremely complex and a very unique experience. Thanks to madsberg for sharing. 120206 Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 28, 2003 Red-tinged dark brown. Aroma of raspberry, toffee, chocolate and a little alcohol. Thick, silky, with all good things dark malt showing up – toffee and liquorice. Quite rich, like the best Belgian dark chocolate. This is cut by sweet & sour raspberry notes. This is very drinkable. I’d love to taste the eisbock straight-up sometime. joergen (6147), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 4, 2006 Bottle 2004-edition.
