3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 6.3oz, shared by fonefan. 2004 vintage. Itís a lightly unclear one, brown in color and with some rapidly diminishing beige bubbles on top. Lightly oxidized aroma with caramel and toffee, dried fruits, hints of raspberry and some alcohol. The flavor has more raspberry than the aroma, in a very pleasant way. Caramel, dried fruits, oxidation and a little bitterness too. Full body, warming and with some tart-ish notes, even though itís quite sweet. A tasteful beer indeed, but itís hard to tell whether itís the age that prevents me from going wild (the beerís age, not mine) or if itís because the beer world has evolved quite a bit since 2004. Still, a wonderful beer it is. 121109

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught@Hop Devil Grill, NYC
Dark ruby color, small off-white head. Very strong aroma of ice cream - ice cream with mocha and vanilla. Full-bodied. Very sticky mouthfeel. I donít think that I have ever tasted a beer similar to this: vanilla, rasberry (with stones) and leafy hops in the finish. Surely on its own class ... and in its own style (fruit eisbock).

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
(6.3oz bottle, 2004, many thanks Pailhead) Small tan head atop a clear blood-red body. Aroma is moderately sweet, raspberry, fig, toffee, some chocolate, cookie dough, cherry. Taste is a liquid chocolate fudge brownie accented by raspberry, cherry and caramel. Low carbonation in the moderately full body that holds the alcohol incredibly well. I admit I was somewhat skeptical by the reception this beer has received, but I have been won over.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Red-tinged dark brown. Aroma of raspberry, toffee, chocolate and a little alcohol. Thick, silky, with all good things dark malt showing up – toffee and liquorice. Quite rich, like the best Belgian dark chocolate. This is cut by sweet & sour raspberry notes. This is very drinkable. I’d love to taste the eisbock straight-up sometime.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle, vintage 2004 [thank you so much Boutip].
Pours a brownish red with a small film head. Then the bouquet hits me - wow! How to describe...? There is so much fruityness to this aroma, that it ends up smelling like chocolate! That will not make sense to anybody who havenít tried this brew, but I think most of you who has, will agree. So chocolate, naturally raspberries, some oakyness, a litlle raisins and so much more. Extremely nice, creamy mouthfeel as well, helped by the relatively large ABV. Round and full flavours, dominated by fruityness, viniousness, chocolate, raisins and a slight sour note. So incredibly well-balanced, I was amazed. The aroma should be a 12 out of 10 though! :o)
