COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Real raspberries abound in this chocolate caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture and drinkability. This lager beer will handle additional age very well.

Deepest thanks to Rastacouere for sharing this gem! This is simply astonishing.
A fully diminushing small fizzy off-white head that tops up a clear very dark mahogany body. No lacing. No particules. Few small bubbles Aroma presents heavy full sherry, raspberries, chocolate... very naughty nose. I couldn’t isolate hops. Also, there are . Initial flavor is heavily bitter raspberries and heavy cholocate/fudge/brownies.. development is warming alcohol and little acidity. Finish is medium.. medium to full body... creamy texture... Fizzy carbonatation. A cake in a bottle.

2012 Vintage Aroma is dominated by raspberries. Some tart berry notes but overall fairly sweet. There is a slight medicinal note to it, but really faint. Light caramel and moderate chocolate malt notes help balance the raspberry. A bit of an alcohol note as it warms. Pours a surprisingly clear, but not perfectly clear burnt amber with brown notes to it. Small thin tan head that quickly recedes to the edges and disappears. Flavor starts with sweet raspberry with a light caramel and moderate chocolate note, but the beer is definitely dominated by sweet raspberry. The raspberry is similar to jam or a pastry. Medium bitterness and a moderately strong alcohol note in the finish. No medicinal flavor. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with very low carbonation. Low astringency and medium high alcohol warmth. Fairly sweet and somewhat cloying. Overall I'm not sure how I feel about this beer as a fresh beer. The raspberry flavors are too dominate, and fairly sweet. I think it will likely age well and help balance out the fruit notes. Age should also help add some complexity and mellow the alcohol heat. I expect an eisbock to have more malt character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12.7oz bottle, thanks to umich03jm. 2012 vintage, labeled 15.5% ABV. Shared with DanielCoor and robotopera. Clear dark red color. No head or lace, but some legs... Nice color to the body. Surprisingly little alcohol burn for the ABV. I was expecting heat, based of what I’ve been hearing. But it tastes like it could pass for 13%. Sweeter taste, not really cloying, though. A good tartness, as well. Big body. Very light, if any carbonation. Lightly dry in the finish. Awesome aroma. Huge raspberry. Some chocolate in there. Super long, candy-sweet (in a good way) big long raspberry aftertaste. Very fascinating beer. Very interesting and different. Only thing I can say it seems close in flavor to are the big New Glarus fruit beers I’ve tried, sans being frozen. Glad to have had the chance to try and share this. Definitely took my buzz to a new plateau as well, deceptively easy to drink for the size of the ABV

Bottle 2012 pours a clear ruby with a thin khaki head. Aroma of raspberry juice and tootsie rolls. Taste similar to aroma a raspberry tootsie roll with a punch of alcohol on the finish. This is delicious!

Tap at CBC 2013 - Copenhagen. Pours dark, matte red with a small, foamy head. Lovely nose, lots of rich, ripe raspberry, some berry pits. Big sweet flavor with moderate alcohol, juicy raspberries, cherries, faint tartness. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Warm finish, very sweet but not cloying, with mild bitter earthy berry pits and apple skin, some further rich, fairly sugary raspberries. Great beverage.

Strong aroma of fruit (almost like Kool Aid), with a thin red appearance, strong raspberry taste and lingering warm mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
