walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA May 9, 2004 Updated: Dec 10, 2006another rerate here. had this on 12/08/06 at the brewery, this stuff keeps getting better and better my 3rd number 5 rating.RE-RATE 5/7/06 ON TAP AS JTW SAID ONE NIGHT ONLY BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 6.3 OZ BOTTLES THIS ONE WAS DIFFERANT THAN THE 1ST ABV IS NOW 18%. POURED A MUDDY BROWN WITH LITLE TO NO HEAD. AROMA RASPBERRIES AND WHERE DID THAT CHOCOLATE COME FROM MALTS, WITH HINTS OF ALCOHOL AND DARK FRUITS . FLAVOR SAME AS AROMA . THIS WAS NOT AS SYRUPY AS THE 1ST OR AS SWEET. I WASN’T GOING TO CHANGE MY RATING BUT THOUGHT BETTER OF IT BECAUSE THIS BEER IS DIFFERANT THAN THE 1 ST BATCH THEY MADE LAST YEAR. MT 1ST RAINGS WERE 9,5,9,4,18 ON MAY 9TH 2004.THE BROTHERS PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFERT INTO MAKING THIS A QUAILTY BREW AND IT SHOWED THAT WHEN BRET CAME TO THE TABLE EXPLAIND THE PROCESS OF MAKING THIS GREAT BREW WITH THE RBS THAT WHERE AT THE TABLE .WOW. shared a bottle with flemdawg. Poured dark brown wth hints of ruby around the edges, no head with some lacing.aroma ,nice balance of raspberry, raisin molasses.flavor was like the best homemade raspberry preserves I have had got hints of molasses and citrus almost like a tangerine mouth feel was smooth and dry in a good way. This was a very good beer,it would be very good for a after dinner drink or even dessert. Did I say WOW 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA May 14, 2005 Updated: Jul 30, 2005Tap. Reddish brown in color, maybe some purple?? A touch murky. Long lived tan head and some lacing. Aroma reminds me of chocolate coated raspberries. Medium to full bodied. Not as cloying as I would have thought. Alcohol is there but nicely subdued. Rich chocolate, caramel and raspberry blend together very well. Wow! Rerate from a bottle. Going to give this one the perfect 5.0 now. Sublime, well-blended, big and potent. This belongs on the upper shelf and would be the deserted island beer. suiteddeuces (1), Michigan, USA does not count Oct 14, 2005 Unbelieveable beer. It’s amazing this place is 5 miles from where I live. Was not too happy at first about the high price, had one sip, and I would easily pay twice as much for it. Complex chocolate/raspberry taste goes down extremely smooth, changing direction even inch down your throat. 18% and you wouldn’t even think it was %5 from drinking it. I must drink beer
jgd0608 (187), Zeeland, South Carolina, USA Sep 11, 2007 Cute little bottle. Can’t thank walleye enough for this bottle. Absolutely divine. Smell was chocholate covered rasberries, as was the taste. I should write much more about how extravogant this beer is, but only one word can describe it. PERFECT! Thanks again Jim spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Nov 11, 2006 Updated: Dec 16, 2006Had this before but had to change my rating.Had on tap at the Ashley’s KRE release party.Very strong chocolate and raspberry flavors.Pours a dark color with a reddish tint.Very smooth chocolate and raspberry flavor.Very full mouthfeel with probably the smoothest finish of any beer I’ve had.WOW tomspalla (8), Orange Beach, Michigan, USA does not count Apr 9, 2009 One of the most incredible beers I have ever had. It’s aroma is chocolate, fudge, and raspberry. The mouthfeel is smooth and not overly chewy. Its flavor lingers and as it warms, it tastes like a tootsie roll. An expensive beer, but worth the money if you’ve never had it. I like chocolate, I like raspberries- this has both and does it well. I took a point off for the palate but thats just to be consistent- I give most things a 4 for the palate unless they really stand out, but it was smooth. This beer just makes me happy and I dont know what more I could ask for. Thanks yjb for this one. A nice beer from a nice guy.
