Commercial Description:
Real raspberries abound in this chocolate caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture and drinkability. This lager beer will handle additional age very well.

Draft: Opaque, yeasted burgundy. Dense, slow-rising bubbles. Notes of red licorice and toffee in the aroma with deep, well-rounded, raspberry undertones. Soft, but steadfast, carbonation. Velvety viscosity. Slight tartness mixes with fat malt flavors. Very plump and fluffy fruitiness. Overripe plum, milk chocolate, and raspberry whispers. Masterfully disguised alcohol. Some cottony malt textures balanced by a leathery tang. Fresh raisins prevail in the finish with notes of red licorice, cakey malt flavors, and an acidic tingle. If anything, this would benefit from more dryness and a touch less fruit. Very nice.

2004 Bottle courtesy of a trade with cquiroga: Aroma is rich and fruity with a little sherry and a hint of dark chocolate. Color is prune juce brown with just a wisp of foam around the edges. Flavor is also rich with raspberry, chocolate, caramel, brandy, prune and a lightly acidic (tart cherry) finish. Medium bodied and creamy with soft carbonation.

This is a great beer. I want to thank beeryum for bringing this to the 2005 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Dark brown color, tart raspberry flavor that ’s well balanced. Loved it.

(6.3oz bottle, 2004, many thanks Pailhead) Small tan head atop a clear blood-red body. Aroma is moderately sweet, raspberry, fig, toffee, some chocolate, cookie dough, cherry. Taste is a liquid chocolate fudge brownie accented by raspberry, cherry and caramel. Low carbonation in the moderately full body that holds the alcohol incredibly well. I admit I was somewhat skeptical by the reception this beer has received, but I have been won over.

12/26/2005 - Bottle to myself sample! 2004 bottle. Clear dark brown body, no head. Sweet chocolate mousse aroma with condensed sweet raspberries. The flavor thins out a bit with a tingly carbonated raspberry/alcohol over smooth creamy caramel. ’05 GTMW samples (2 in one glass). Reddish-brown appearance. Toffee, caramel, raspberry, milky aroma. Reminds me of a strawberry cream oatmeal mix. The flavor stars with raspberry and follows with a very well-blended creamy, caramelly sweetness. Rich mouthfeel.

Deep, slightly hazed red. The aroma is pound cake with raspberry filling and a bit of vanilla. Fairly tart, which blends nicely with the other flavors. Sweet.

Bottle courtesy of santoslhalper. Dark rich velvety raspberries, musky and almost overripe. Light flowery hop character, but mainly ripe cherry syrup and light estery vapors. Chocolate covered cherries with a bit of caramel. Dark amber clear with a hint of ruby. No head. Medium heavy body, almost chewy, with medium carbonation and quite an alcohol warming presence. Starts with overripe raspberry and cherry, light chocolate and alcohol sweetness. Mild tart acidity, quite sweet but not cloying. Finish is quite warming, with a medium bitter bite. Rich sweet and bitter after. Quite a fruit beer.

A great fruit beer. Raspberry, prune, and malt flavors. Finishes chewy, smooth, and thick.
