Broke this puppy out for my 30th birthday. 2007 small 6oz bottle thanks to Northernbrews. Pours murky dark reddish brown with absolutely no head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, berries, sweet caramel, and some booze. Flavor is raspberries, chocolate, sweet caramel, and some malt undertones. Palate and is silky smooth and a little syrupy but that is ok. Finishes sweet and chocolaty. Really good stuff. I love this brewery.

A-Poured into a tulip out of a 6.7 oz bottle from the 2007 stash. Pours a dark brown almost burgandy color with no head or carbonation present. S-has a very rich smell, of chocolate, alcohol and malt. T-a truely one of a kind beer, almost like a cognac with less alcohol. The alcohol does come through, but overall its a chocolate flavor that prevails with hints of raspberries. M-a thick smooth beer. The mouthfeel can really be appreciated as it warms, almost syrup like. D-A great beer, nothing that I would drink a large amount of, but very good none the less. Hard to believe that this beer is considered to be a relative of the common lager.

Huge thanks to Bobby91w for this tasty treat. Pours browner than I thought it would - a ruddy medium brown, with only a small ring of bubbles around the edge. The aroma is simply delectable - raspberry syrup, tons of caramel... like something you might drizzle over a great cheesecake. The flavor doesn’t quite pull through, though - mouthfeel is great, but there’s a grassy note that takes away from the pungent raspberry, and the alcohol shines a bit through the rest of the brew. Still great, but probably a bit over-hyped.

18cl, Vintage 2007, no mention of ABV, exclusive American brew, with raspberries, thx alot to Secret Santa!, very complex fruit brew, fruity/alcoholic and slightly sour/sweet, not too heavy, very balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, top class Winter brew!, yet very expensive!, WOW!

Nip bottle, 2007 vintage. Shared by Mathieuc, huge thanks! Brown with reddish reflects, no head, no lacing. Aroma is of intense chocolate and raspberries. Taste is sweet, intensely chocolate and strong raspberries notes. Slight acidic presence from the raspberries that help to balance the beer. Sirupy. Warming alcohol. I was surprised by the strong chocolate presence. The bottom of the bottle was tasting raspberries jam. Nice sipper!

Bottle@Home shared with my father to celebrate his 60th birthday. Appearance: Dark red with almost no head. Quite beautiful. Aroma: Raspberries, Malt, Grain, Fudge, Vanilla. Taste: Malt, Chocolate, Raspberries, Caramel, Vanilla. Palate: A solid malt base with a bit of tartness from the berries. Smooth and complex and supertasty. A truly interesting eisbocks and one of the better beers i’ve had lately.

One of the Holy Grail (!) from a trade with umich03jm. Pours a sort of deep copper maroon color. Very low head, and carbonation is mild. Aroma is a balance of sweet raspberry and chocolate; wishing for more aroma. Flavor is fairly sweet and intense raspberry, chocolate, and some alcohol, but it’s well hidden considering the ABV. This reminds me of eating a raspberry truffle. Love how this lingers on the palate with these really nice flavors and a little tartness. Great sipping beer. Unique, and impressive that the brewer could pull this off without the beer tasting artificial or weird. Awesome to have been able to try this. Thanks, Jason!

2012 batch - thanks OmegaX. This batch was a tad stronger... like 15.5% stronger. The body poured a tad oily, showing little signs of carbonation in the deep red hue it had. This brew had an intense marriage of chocolate and raspberries in the aroma, it was almost thick as well. The taste was fantastic; bittersweet raspberries, soft carbonation, smooth texture, and a kiss of chocolate in the finish. What a unique experience this was!

From tap, at CBC 2012. Hazy orange red with a frothy tan head. Intriguing nutty aromas of toffee and peanutbutter mixed with raspberry accents. Medium to heavy sweet flavor, leathery, fruity, with a creamy chocolatey texture and very soft carbonation. Medium bitter finish. One of a kind, and without a doubt the most interesting fruit beer I’ve had.
