12 oz bottle. Pours a thick, dark brown that still produces a vigorous, splotchy tan head. Nose is molasses, dark roast and brown sugar. Medium to full body, a little chalky and sticky. Up front prickly carb with almost a nitro mouthfeel. Taste is a bit sour and acidic with raisin, espresso and pine. Tart blackberry finish.

Dark, dark pour with a tan, almost pinkish head. Roasty coffee nose, some smoke. But the flavor disappoints. Way too tart, vinous, salty. Something is way off here. Yuck.

Sep 24, 2008 Pours a pitch black color with a thin brown head. Vaguely interesting aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt and chocolate with some bitterness in the end. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation.

Sep 23, 2008 @ Michigan Beerfest-on tap-pours a big rich brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-ashy, dark fruit. Taste is dark malt-ashy, dark fruit-tart, vinegar.

Aug 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle from goryskewych. Thanks George! Dark brown pour with medium tan head. Dark roasted malt aroma with big dark fruits and notes of coffee, chocolate and salty garbage. Taste is bitter coffee, soy sauce, sour cherry and chocolate. Full bodied. All off kilter with signs of infection.

Aug 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle - thanks to biegman for the trade; pours jet black with thick, choco head; very sweet, bitter chocolate aromas; resinous and a little hot; doesn’t drink very smooth at first taste; raw chocolate, malty and alcohol is obvious; plummy and sweet; a little sour too; hmmm, this one is all over the place; a big brew for sure and could probably use a year or five to figure out what it is
