Vintage 2012, this bold Belgian-style stone ale has a solid malt backbone and sweet as honey. Really nice west coast bitterness to balance it out. Fun brew!

2012 bottle from my secret Santa. Caramel color. Small white head. Little bit of lacing. Grainy malty aroma. Not much hops. Honey and leather taste with some malt.

Bottle. Pours hazy butterscotch, small fizzy off-white head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel, orange, cardboard. Flavor is better, caramel and orange notes with honey and some pine. Medium sweet, malty, lightly bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. ABV extremely well hidden, which is impressive.

Bottle: oily looking, deep copper color with barely any translucency. Slow growing, foamy white head settles to a film & fat collar in a few moments. Aroma has notes of spicy, earthy hops, zesty white pepper, & Belgian yeast eaters like light banana & some clove bubblegum. Mildly phenolic. Taste isnít as heavy as Iíd expect from this beer. Notes of floral hops, white pepper, caramel & toffee malt, some Belgian spices, yeast, mild honey sweetness, & light fruity esters. Finish contains an alcohol warmth with some fusel notes. I like this better than Simcoe Silly... Itís good. Much better than expected.

Extra in a trade from umich43jm, thanks Jason! Pours orange brown with a scant white head that retreats quickly to the edge of the glass. Aroma is musty wet dog, caramel malt. Flavor is malty, mineral, a little hot. A bit if bitterness in the finish cuts the caramel malt that lingers on the tongue.

Clear amber beer with a good size pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate, semi dry. Mild minerals. Touch of brandyish alcohol. Mild orange and orange marmalade hops. Nice floral sweetness in the mid. Finishes dry with a little spicy alcohol. Nice beer, possibly past itís best but working okay as a barleywine!

bottle. amber with minimal head. lightly sweet with bready malt body. not even a hint of booze. not as hoppy as youíd expect from a double IPA, but plenty of flavor.

Bottle:   Pale amber, orange skewed, thin sudsy white head, little lacing.   Sweaty nose, doughy, with some beefy floral notes.   Seriously, what is going on with this beer?   Canít smell the 11.25%, so thatís good.   Whoa, also cannot taste it.   Pale breadiness, very light sweetness, a touch of honey.   Not Belgian, and not anything IPA or IIPA like.   A little dusty on the finish, musty, and perhaps more Belgian than I think.   This is an odd duck, for sure.   Not sure what they are trying to accomplish, but I really prefer the standard Simcoe Silly to this one.   Comes across as a yeasty/doughy bready beer with a slight bit of mustiness, without much floral or herbal character.   Nothing about this is Belgian.   I will only say that the 11.25% ABV... is that to be believed?   Thanks Kevin!

poured from a bottle into a Duvel snifter. Deep amber color with small white head. Nose is much more inviting than the simcoe silly (cat box). slightly piney, but a noticeable malty, honey forward component. minimal head and CO2. strong bitterness with supporting malt. overall a well balanced beer
