2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz Bottle. Thanks Sean for the opportunity! To be completely honest the aroma smells painful, a bedraggled mix of stressed Belgian yeast, raw pink bubblegum, and slightly old hops. The palate of the beer cleans things up ever so slightly, but holding onto the bubblegum yeast stress. The sugars crank up, giving a crystalline punch to the front of the tongue. I think a whole one of these would cause a lot of pain in the morning, with a lot of sugar, a lot of alcohol, and a boatload of messy phenols. The obviously stressed and freaked out Belgian yeast byproducts are really tough to handle. Did it ferment at 102F? Otherwise, for the gravity, it really isn’t too sweet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft pour at the source. Pours a hazy gold with a white head of foam. Aroma has dank citrus and some spice. Medium sweetness and medium bitterness. The Belgian yeast adds a bit of floral and spice complexity. Bigger body and soft carbonation.

Vintage 2012, this bold Belgian-style stone ale has a solid malt backbone and sweet as honey. Really nice west coast bitterness to balance it out. Fun brew!

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours hazy butterscotch, small fizzy off-white head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel, orange, cardboard. Flavor is better, caramel and orange notes with honey and some pine. Medium sweet, malty, lightly bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. ABV extremely well hidden, which is impressive.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Bottle: Oily looking, deep copper color with barely any translucency. Slow growing, foamy white head settles to a film & fat collar in a few moments. Aroma has notes of spicy, earthy hops, zesty white pepper, & Belgian yeast eaters like light banana & some clove bubblegum. Mildly phenolic. Taste isn’t as heavy as I’d expect from this beer. Notes of floral hops, white pepper, caramel & toffee malt, some Belgian spices, yeast, mild honey sweetness, & light fruity esters. Finish contains an alcohol warmth with some fusel notes. I like this better than Simcoe Silly.

Extra in a trade from umich43jm, thanks Jason! Pours orange brown with a scant white head that retreats quickly to the edge of the glass. Aroma is musty wet dog, caramel malt. Flavor is malty, mineral, a little hot. A bit if bitterness in the finish cuts the caramel malt that lingers on the tongue.
