3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to PaleHead for the Kuhnhenn beers!
Silly pours a pumpkin colored body and a very wispy head. There was little carbonation to the beer but suiting. The aroma is a bit soapy, ginger, plum, pear, lemon grass and coriander. The flavor is a fairly herbal, but sweet and evenly fruity. Thin carbonation but a nice slick and velvety mouth-feel. Overall, a nice beer… I’ve had better Belgian Strongs, but well done indeed!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 3, 2007 Tap. The more I drink this the more it grows on me, Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a slight off white head. Aroma is bubble gum, green banana, malt, floral hops. Flavor is the same, with some orange, pear nectar, belgian yeast notes. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, bittersweet finish. Nice stuff.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A hazy golden ale with a thin creamy white head. Aroma is bizarre, with rotted ginger and notes of cinnamon. In mouth, a lightly sourish banana with notes of coriander, oranges, and warmth of alcohol. The bottle is past its prime. not overly bad but not good either.

On tap at ashleys. Pours a very cloudy light brown color. Very murky. Aroma was of lihgt hops and some appliness. Felt a little watery in the mouth. A little banana taste coming through in this. I was very shocked by this, not what i was expecting from the name,

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
9.5% ABV. On draft at brewery. Clear copper color with lasting thin white head. Nice lacing too. Sweet orange to grapefruit aroma and maybe a bit floral to banana-ish. Nice thick mouth feel with sweet slightly sugary maltiness, sweet hop citrus-grapefruit flavor with a mild amount of tart grapefruit hop bitterness. There was something else there as well. A bit floral and spice or something. Very Nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft... Hazy amber ale with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Bubble gum, banana and faint, earthy, cat piss hops constitute the nose. The earthy, fruity flavor is medium bitterness intertwined with medium sweetness and fuzzy fruit. Full-bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation. Finishes tangy and bittersweet. Odd bird, this one, but creative and very tasty.

On tap @ Ashley’s: Very cloudy orange brown color with a white head. Aroma of citrus, light malts, and yeast. Flavor, some light citrus, pine, kinda bready with some light spicing. Not what I expected at all, but an interesting brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, from trade with hopdog. Good aroma. Fruity, apricot, peach, tangerine. Little ash. got clove as it warmed. Hazed brownish orange color, small head with good lacing. Bittersweet flavor. The clove really kicked in, fruitiness turned more lemon, grapefruit than aroma. Thick body, smooth creamy oily mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Tasty brew, interesting play with simcoe & belgian yeast. Thanks walleye.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep honey amber color with a thin layer of quickly receding bubbly white head. Lots of banana in the nose, along with some light belgian candi sugar and a touch of clove yeasty spice. Interesting funky hop bitterness accompaning the sweet bouquet. Full bodied, sticky mouthfeel with a nice light, high gravity carbonated feel. Sweet flavors of yeasty banana start off the flavor brigade on the tongue, quickly followed by an ambush of light fruity esters, and finished off by a storm of bitter hops to round out the finish. In may ways this is very much the prototypical light belgian strong ale, but the American hops presence is clearly felt and creates a polarizing palate experience. Its one of those beers that I like, is different, and is familiar all at the same time if that makes any sense at all. What a fitting name. I love the creativity that comes with brewing, and this beer sure epitomizes that quality. Hats off!
