What? This is Kuhnhenn? Had on-tap at the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth, Michigan.
Appearance: Came with a finger of head in the little sample mug. Surprisingly dark brown color. Decent lacing in the glass.
Smell: Where’s the simcoe? A good bit of alcohol is noticeable on the nose with some fruity hops, but it doesn’t smell distinctively like simcoe. Pretty sweet.
Taste: Sweet and bitter, depending where it hits your tongue. Quite a bit of alcohol warmth on the finish, but not too much in the taste. Not really what I was expecting.
This isn’t an awful beer, but it needs a new name, I think. Surprisingly boozy and sweet. Not as simcoe forward as I was expecting and hoping.
