COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Pale American Belgo style beer was 2010 GABF’s silver medal winner. It has notes of spicy pineapple, mango bubblegum aromas which comes from the unique marriage of a special Bel-gian yeast and an American Simcoe hop. This beer has an initial soft malt sweetness with orange fruitiness and finishes with a hoppy dryness.

Hazy, slighty redish, golden body, white head. Aroma of pines, dried fruits, very rich exotic fruit blend aromas with pineapple and papaya on top. Nice thick mouthfeel with malts and yeasty fruits on flavour. Somehow flavour ends with taste of battered pork cutlet. Strange.

Draft at Mugs Alehouse. Clove like spice on the nose, Sweet piney background hops on the palate with some sweet character from the yeast, more spice and cloves with a bitter finish. Don’t really seem to get much Simcoe.

Growler. Cloudy orange pour with minimal head and retention. Heff type nose with tropical fruits including banana, pineapple, and orange. Also some bubblegum. Taste is nice with the same fruit and a medium hop kick. I wish it had a little more carbonation but it just may be due to using a Growler. Good not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler to snifter. Pours hazy amber with no head and its really hard to notice any carbonation. Aroma is somewhat sweet with plenty of yeast and wheat bread characteristics and some faint bitterness. Taste is more yeast and sweet syrup and bitterness from the hops and some pepper spice, but its really laid back ( this growler is probably past its prime). Palate is medium and slick with a bitter dry finish. Would like try this one again out of bottle.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2012 From the 2/2012 3R6P tasting. Sampled from a growler this beer poured a hazy orange caramel color with a no head and no lacing. The aroma was sweet bread, pepper, pine and a bit of perfume. The flavor was tart and tangy pine, orange, apricot, pepper and bread with undertones that were herbal and perfumey. The finish was long and tangy orange, pepper and had a lingering herbal note. Medium body. Solid.

Growler. I am not a fan of Simcoe hops on their own. Good beer. Floral /earthy hops, bready, touch grassy, some caramel. I would have liked this with more hop complexity.

Growler share by Dallas, thanks! Pours a fairly bright dark copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is fruity, some sulfur and candies. The flavor is very warm, sweet, Belgian yeasts, akin to a hoppy Triple, some pear and sweet tropical fruits. Doesn’t really showcase the hop I think and is very hot. Decent.

On draft at Hopcat. Honey gold pour with a thin white head. Nose has notes of apple, caramel, and candy. Rich mouthfeel with flavors that follow the nose. Slightly bitter finish. Good beer.
