Glouglouburp (1876), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 15, 2008 In short: A smooth slightly spicy Belgian session ale. Very good stuff
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy golden-copper body topped by a large off-white head
In long: Coriander and spices on the nose. Very yeasty beer with bubble gum notes. Fruity flavours are on the dry side with orange peels and some dried fruits. A smooth dessert-like spiciness (cinnamon, etc.). A bit dusty and dry. Nothing spectacular but really quite easy to drink. Not often that I come across a beer that is both a true session beer and a true Belgian Ale. Named after The Simpsons own Mr Burns famous poor attempt at passing for someone else, and the beer is… Excellent! mattmc1973 (102), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jun 15, 2008 On tap at Kuhnhenn, poured a yellow/amber with a frothy off-white head that left nice lacing. Aroma was heavily malty, with some caramel, spices, and bubble gum. Taste was moderately sweet, and finishes sweet and just a bit acidic. Body is light-medium, dry, with soft carbonation. All in all, pretty good! kmweaver (1813), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA May 9, 2008 Growler, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a bright, clear orange-amber color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Very generous, forward aroma showing cantaloupe, bubble gum, fruitiness, esters and bananas; pleasant, complex nose. Medium mouthfeel: a touch watery, but still quite generous in its flavors and pleasant in the mouth: a touch of oily, banana-y esters, bubble gum, cantaloupe and tropical fruits; complex malt core and some nice spiciness; a really odd, interesting beer. Medium finish: fruity, perfumy, and toasty malts. polomagnifico (389), Saginaw, Michigan, USA May 3, 2008 On tap at brewery. Aroma of bubble gum, spice, malt, and saw dust. Lighter amber hue with a white head that left good lace. Flavors of gum, spice, Belgian yeast, and saw dust. Light-medium bodied with soft carbonation. Kind of nasty IMHO.
