2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 auerbrau (2953) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - JUN 1, 200912 oz 2007 Bottle. Thanks Sean! A very loud snap and then a bit of gushing. Why should I be surprised? The aroma throughs off a potently dangerous mix of acetone, lactic acid, apple brandy, and roasted thin coffee. That’s a peculiar melange if I ever smelled one. Pours a viscous soapy black and brown, with a foamy coffee and cream colored head fading fast. The flavor is ass-kicking and painful. Hot, hot, hot alcohols burn down the house before it all evaporates really quickly into some weird chemical mixes and a wash of char and coffee. It’s hard to latch onto anything when it’s moving so fast. The roast character is actually pleasurable, but there’s no depth to the beer. I don’t appreciate this much infection-induced foaminess in an imperial stout. If you want a weird monster, you’ve got one in this beer.

Old tick. This one was just a booze bomb and sweet, but didn’t phase me too hard.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Lours a dense, dark brown with no head. Aroma is boozy brown sugar and a hefty malt profile. Big beer with a huge malt profile in taste and aroma. Nice stuff.

This bottled brew from rbsg #29 poured a head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque black colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was of black malt. The strong flavor contained notes of mild black malt and dark malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 madvike (2088) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 1, 2012
Bottle shared by BenC...thanks Ben! - Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose is boozy, with lots of sweet brown sugar, plums and dark fruit. Taste is big and sharp...lots of dark malt, dark fruit, and a long roasty coffee finish. A good deal of sugar and a long sharp finish. Medium bodied and well-carbonated.

2007 vintage
The beer appears a deep, dark brown with a thin head that leaves a fair amount of lacing behind. The nose brings a heavy dose of roasted malt and alcohol. The flavor is big and bold. I’m sure age has tamed the beer to a certain extent, but it still packs a heavy punch. Flavors include roasted malt, booze, brown sugar, chocolates, dark fruits. The feel is heavy with plenty of booze. I guess it is 18% abv, after all. Overall, a pretty good beer, albeit a slow sipper. A few ounces was plenty for me.

Bottle pours purplish black with almost no head. Aroma dark fruits, roast, molasses, coffee. Flavor mainly just dark fruits and booze, a little soy. Finish a continuation of the flavor with alcohol burn. Palate full and thick, not sticky or syrupy. Alcohol very apparent.
Pretty good but definitely a sipper or one to share with friends.

Bottle 33 cl, trade. Pours oily pitch black with a small brown head leaving just a rim of bubbles around the beer. Aroma is heavy of sweet molassis, roasted malts, dark fruits, soy, chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Flavor is fullbodied sweet, roasted, meaty, soy, fruity, dark fruits and bitter. Finishes bitte meaty roasted and bitter. Maybe a bit too boozy but I think the sweetness mates well with the heavy body and alcohol, very much in my taste,

9/12/9/12/10/11

’10 bottle from Sean - thanks man! Pours predictably black on black with a surprisingly nice dark tan head. Aroma is oxidization, raisin, sweet malt, chocolate, and licorice. The aroma reminds me somewhat of a recently enjoyed Batch 9,000 but even bigger. Taste is massive raisin, plum, sweet malt, oxidization, licorice, and perhaps some chocolate. Huge, over-the-top sweet beer. Mouthfeel is neutral if not a bit light. Definite sipper and a nice one if you enjoy big, dark fruit notes.

2008 version All body and no head. Very light maltiness and not getting much on the head. Incredibly drinkable. But surprisingly lacking flavor for the monster it is.
