3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ICEatALAMO (533) - Troy, Michigan, USA - DEC 29, 2012
bottle from ’12 winter solstice. The pour is a little strange. A very hazy brownish color. Almost has a blue hue to it. Also has tons of stuff floating in it. The aroma has a bunch of fruit, with a hint of vinegar. The taste is a little thin, but yummy. An unusual beer, but tasty and something very different from a normal christmas beer. I get the punch reference earlier.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (6033) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a hazy brownish-orange color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Spicy aroma of coriander and anise with some malt in the background. Medium body with a sweet spice character and flavors of malt, pine and fruit. The finish is sweet with a lingering spice aftertaste. Above average overall.

On tap at Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice Night Two. Brown and lacey. Citrus and ginger. A big nose of spices. Some sugar. A sipper, yet drinkability assured. Nothing like any xmas beer head before.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 deyholla (4787) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - DEC 21, 2011
On tap at the 2011 Kuhnhenn’s Winter Solstice. Pours a hazy rusty amber with a light brown head that dissipates quickly and nearly completely. Aroma is full of spice and fruitcake with a strong stollen backing note. Flavor begins with lots of spice and is joined by bread, grains and fruitcake which is a bit odd. Overly spiced.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Silphium (2969) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 12, 2011
6th Annual MBG Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Sweet, fruitcake nose, with spice (anise, fennel), candied fruit, and a soapy medicinal bitterness in the body. Strange. If I drank a full glass I suspect this would score lower.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tmoney99 (8779) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2011
Draft sample at MBGWF 2011. Poured hazy reddiah amber with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy fruit, dough and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy spice and fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderated duration. Refreshing complex beer.
