Bottle received from Ken, thanks for picking me up bottles man! Pours a completely opaque/murky reddish brown in color with very little head on the pour. Nose is pretty medicinal, smells a lot like berry, cherry cough syrup in particular. Flavor is pretty one dimensional berry as well. It is reminiscent of a fruit cake, there is some bready/doughiness to it. Mouthfeel is light and a little syrupy, not much in terms of carbonation, a moderate finish, and only slightly boozy. Not bad, not great, decent middle of the road beer. Happy I got to try it.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the wife; thanks mikem409). Looks good; an almost completely opaque reddish-brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells of malt and fruitcake. Tastes like it smells with a nice, clean finish. Drinks easier than 9% too. My wife and I both enjoyed this one (and I don’t even like fruitcake).

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle from Winter Soltice. Pours a very murky dark ruby color with no head. Aroma is a mix of cherry cough syrup, caramelized sugar, and bread. Taste is big on cherry cough syrup. Sugary sweet and a slightly boozy finish. Medium body, somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Not bad but not exactly good either. Re-rate 10/23/14 - Bottle almost 2 years old now. Thanks Tammy! Taste and smell no longer come off like cough syrup. Still sugary sweet but in a good way. Packed with fruit cake and light booze. Alot better now than fresh. Original rate was 6/3/6/4/12.

A bizarre tasting brew that does indeed bring to mind fruitcake. Not a huge fan of it.

bottle from ’12 winter solstice. The pour is a little strange. A very hazy brownish color. Almost has a blue hue to it. Also has tons of stuff floating in it. The aroma has a bunch of fruit, with a hint of vinegar. The taste is a little thin, but yummy. An unusual beer, but tasty and something very different from a normal christmas beer. I get the punch reference earlier.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a hazy brownish-orange color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Spicy aroma of coriander and anise with some malt in the background. Medium body with a sweet spice character and flavors of malt, pine and fruit. The finish is sweet with a lingering spice aftertaste. Above average overall.

On tap at Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice Night Two. Brown and lacey. Citrus and ginger. A big nose of spices. Some sugar. A sipper, yet drinkability assured. Nothing like any xmas beer head before.

On tap at the 2011 Kuhnhenn’s Winter Solstice. Pours a hazy rusty amber with a light brown head that dissipates quickly and nearly completely. Aroma is full of spice and fruitcake with a strong stollen backing note. Flavor begins with lots of spice and is joined by bread, grains and fruitcake which is a bit odd. Overly spiced.
