Pour out of 8 oz bottle, thanks Stephen! Clear yellow pour with no head, aroma brought notes of vanilla, honey, lemon, some nice apple, slight earth. Taste is very sweet sugar, honey, lots of vanilla, finishing fairly sweet. Good, but hard to drink a ton of this.

Bottle at the Colorado Mead Tasting ’12. Pour is golden yellow with no head. Huge sweet vanilla, honey, light pear, nutty aroma. Taste is rich honey, vanilla syrup, amaretto, sweet cherries, honey, and pears. Syrupy mouthfeel with no carbonation. Another sweet mead from Kuhnhenn with well-hidden alcohol.

Colorado mead tasting 2012 - I am not a fan of vanilla that overpowers in the aroma - it always winds up smelling like pancake batter to me - that’s what this smells like to me (with a touch of coconut) - taste is very boozy, especially in the finish - strong vanilla flavors throughout - a bit of bourbon character - a bit of white grape in the finish - like the last one I tried, tastes much better than it smells.

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Armin’s house. Thanks to Stephen! Pours a clear light yellow appearance with no head. Rich vanilla, honey, green apple aroma. A touch thick, flaming vanilla bean, light lemon, sweet honey flavor. Easy to drink and tasty.

Flat 10 karat pour produces a fragrant perfume of sweet vanilla, banana, pineapple, brown sugar, and caramel. Not nearly as over the top, agrressive, or enjoyable as the barrel-aged version but still good. Flavor also lacking the same complexity (weird because I didn’t get a lot of the barrel influence but it somehow enhanced the base). Sticky, lots of vanilla. Banana, some cinnamon, and candied tropical fruit. Still can’t get enough of Kuhnhenn’s meads!

Bottle, pours gold with no head or lace. Aromas are play doh, bannanas, blossom honeys, vanilla extract. Taste is frozen bananas, rum cake, vanilla, play-doh and honey.. slightly warming but when u consider that it’s 17 percent its nothing. Medium bodied, long lasting finish. What a mead.

6oz nip pouring at RBSG Grand Tasting LA. Pours clear gold, lighter, flat. Nose is mega sweet, whoooooo, vanilla extract slaps your face. There is coconut and some chemical like sunscreen scent. (??) Taste is wicked sweet, cinnamon, cocoa, dried pineapple. Rich palate. Ends up being quite yummy save for the sunscreen in the nose.

Poured from 6oz bottle. Pours golden in color with no carbonation. Aroma is lots of vanilla and a bit of bananas. Taste follows the nose with lots of great sweetness. This is dessert in a glass. Loved this one.

Bottle from kuhnhenn courtesy of unclerudy. Pours a clear gold with no head. Nose is light berries, vanilla beans, and a hint of vanilla ice cream. Flavor is similar with some booze, vanilla ice cream and some sweetness with a dry finish. Vanilla beans push through the dry finish though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

7 ounce bottle that poured a light clear yellow color. Aroma of sugar, vanilla, honey, and some hard candies. Flavor is vanilla up front and sugary sweet honey at the end with a weird aftertaste that I cannot put my hands on. A real nice mead overall, great after a huge meal, treated this one more like a dessert wine.
