2nd January 2011 Cloudy red brown beer. Short lived bubbly tan head. This 2007 beer is in good condition! Crispy palate, semi dry. Sweet malt - fairly intense. A little aniseed alcohol. Coconut with a trace of cherry and strawberry. More aniseed. Toffee and caramel. Finishes neutral with a little alcohol heat. Complex beer that generally hides the alcohol well. It’s there but you would think this is a 12.0% beer.

Bottle generously shared by colonelforbin. Thanks Mike. Pours a dark reddish amber with a light tan head that settles to a ring and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is a light roastiness, some nuttiness, some alcohol, and some caramel. The taste is sweet with caramel and a light nutty note. The finish has a decent bitterness and is warming with alcohol. Low carbonation. Medium body.

Bottle at home. Pour is reddish-amber with a small, off-white head and decent lacing. Raisins, figs, grapefruit, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, and light alcohol in the aroma. Taste is fruity, toffee, lightly boozy, raisins, caramel, and grapefruit. Sticky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Begins sweet upfront, lightly hoppy with sweet caramel notes through the middle, ending with a light alcoholic burn on the finish. The alcohol is present, but not overbearing by any means. Not bad.

Muddy, sweet. sloppy, and really hot. Just a complete booze bomb with overly sweet flavors. Brown sugar, booze, maple, mollases, booze, cane sugar, booze. Maybe it could substitute as a really expensive alternative to southern Comfort if you needed one.
