CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 22, 2008 12oz bottle courtesy of hopscotch: Cloudy orange amber with a thin ring of spotty-lacing off-white head. Sweet caramely malty aroma has a big fruity estery complexity and a touch of brown sugar. Body starts with big effervescence and rich, sweet light caramel maltiness before a warming sugary light fruity finish. Has nice complexity throughout and a warming finish. I liked this better than the Bo’s version. hopdog (4649), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 20, 2008 12oz bottle acquired in trade with pantanap (thanks!). This one was one of those slow creeping gushers. The kind that didn’t spray, but kept on creeping out of the bottel. Poured a deeper brownish / amberish color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, nuts, caramel, and a little ’stale’. Tastes of dark fruits, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, and just all around sweet. Some alcohol in the finish but not 17%. hopscotch (4588), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jan 3, 2008 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Murky caramel-colored ale with a mid-sized, fizzy, off-white head. Small, creamy retention. The aroma is vinous and fruity; malty and acidic. Notes of brown sugar and cinnamon wrap themselves around several, complex, unidentified esters. Full-bodied with an acerbic mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Rich, sweet caramel with lots of alcohol warmth. Moderate bitterness and acidity. The lengthy finish is bittersweet, caustic, and then Sahara-dry. World class beer!
