Kuhnhenn Vintage Ale

Pours a warm caramel color with little head. Smell is nice and caramelly and sweet, but soft with light alcohol. WOw, just realized this was 17%. Didn’t taste that strong. Taste is incredibly sweet, slightly fruity, and very syrupy and cloying. Creamy warming fruit and some butteriness too, but overall, just way, way too sweet.

Rating 1400, 07 Bottle 12oz, from Hoppymeal, thanks Derek, shared with Cyn, on the Eve of Real Ale and BA Speedway. Pours deep orangey brown with a thin tan head. The nose is indisinct, musty is a good word for it, its a little sweet also. Taste is sweet, full of caramel and fruit, and warming on the tongue and throat, alcohol is hidden overall. Big beer, pretty good.

’07 Vintage Ale-12oz bottle @Vero Beach Throwdown-pours an off white head and cloudy brown color. Aroma is musty, medium fruit, yeast. Taste is musty, medium fruit, yeast, medium malt-somewhat sweet, alcohol-but not overbearing for a 17% BW. OK carbonation. Thanks hopscotch for sharing.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with pantanap (thanks!). This one was one of those slow creeping gushers. The kind that didn’t spray, but kept on creeping out of the bottel. Poured a deeper brownish / amberish color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, nuts, caramel, and a little ’stale’. Tastes of dark fruits, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, and just all around sweet. Some alcohol in the finish but not 17%.

Thanks to hopdog. This one was a gusher! Pours a milky chestnut/orange with a smaller bubbly orange/off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, nuts, very sweet, light alcohol, prunes, toffee and caramel. Very cloyingly sweet malts, dark fruits, toffee, nuts, some alcohol, very warming and prunes.
