4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 JAXSON (400) - Philadelphia, USA - FEB 26, 2011
Very light pale straw pour. Nose is quite vinous, wine-like, with some very interesting citrus qualities. Not chalky at all, which trait a lot of mead suffers from. Honey up fron tin the mouth, full and rich, evolving on the palate toward the finish, which is all pure honey sugars. Pleasantly hot on the finish. Easily the best mead I’ve had, just wonderful.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BMan1113VR (6531) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 9, 2012
2012 bottle (which measures 16%ABV) via a trade. Pours with a crystal clear medium pale yellow hued body. Still, distinct alcohol legs. Aromas are hugely floral, bready, biscuity, dried apricots, flowers, stone fruit, brandy and some alcohol. Medium spice contribution from the alcohol. A touch rustic, marmalade, boozy honey. Flavors are medium sweet, bready, with a lot of tannin and medium balancing acidity. Lots of warm/bready honey character, light marmalade, citrus, floral, grassy, biscuity. Medium to full sweetness, but well balanced. A bit of a wheat like/hay like flavors. Nearly a light umami character on the finish with its richness. Never cloying. Big and viscous body, very light tingling (somewhere south of petillant), full bodied, mildly warming with a well concealed ABV.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 msojka (457) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Pour is a light yellow color, rather clear with no head at all to speak of. Nose is of pure honey. Taste is rather similar, honey and wine, something of a personification of the style.

(187ml bottle from Epic Mead Tasting 2011, thanks in part to blutt59 and Mora2000) clear very pale yellow with excellent lacing. Nose of perm chemicals, stale, earth, stinks bad. Taste is good though, honey, cinnamon, alcohol, spicy, and a smooth finish. Never been so conflicted on nose versus taste as this one!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mora2000 (3010) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 18, 2011
Thanks to blutt59 and thirdeye11 for going in with me on 16 Kuhnhenn meads. This was part of an epic 20 mead tasting.
Pours a very light yellow color. The aroma is full of honey and wildflowers. The flavor is more complex. I get a lot of honey and floral notes, but I also get some vanilla and cinnamon as well as a little bit of alcohol. Medium mouthfeel. This is more complex and I enjoyed it more than the regular Kuhnhenn Wildflower Mead.

Bottle at James’ mead tasting. Pours an almost clear straw yellow with just a touch of haze. Soft and lightly floral, very gentle and sweet, with light honey notes. A touch of warm booze right away, moving to a soft fruit and not much of the floral notes. Finishes with more soft floral and fruit notes and more honey. Nice.

Glass at Kuhnhenn on 7/23/11. Clear yellow pour with no carbonation and lots of legs. Aroma is honey right away with some slight citrus and soft fruit notes. Flavor is a bit fruity to start, but quickly turns to sticky sweet honey all the way through to the finish.
