Deep amber color lager, strong malt aroma, sweeter malt flavor, high bitterness to balance alcohol and sweetness. Made each May for winter solstice. This special yeast gives a unique flavor to this ultra strong lager.

2007 bottle shared by Brewnbbq, thanks for the opportunity Jeff! Rich caramel maltiness with plenty of fruity notes and a hint of warming alcohol. Held up great, I’m glad I got to try it!

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2014 Bottle: 2012. Thanks, Tammy. Deep brown, slightly burnt copper hue with a beige tinted foam & fuzzy collar atop the brew. Aroma smells like red Twizzers licorice, very candy-esque sweetness with a touch of honey and some toasted malt. But lots of red licorice. Touch of apple, too. Flavor has a touch of honey booziness & some toasty malts, but lots of sweet flavors of red licorice, bubblegum, clove, some dark prunes, a little touch of anise, & a mild onset of oxidation. Good carbonation, medium bodied, A nice beer.

> A sweet, but not cloying bourbon and toffee type doppelbock

[ Bottle ][ cetherid BA ][ 12oz ][ Trade ][ Celebrator Flute ][ 3/7/14 ]
>> Pours slightly overcarbonated...clear orange amber with large, billowing yellowish foam. Soda type retention with no lacing. Nose is maple, soy, bourbon, chlorine, brown sugar, toffee. Taste is lemon, ponzu, cherry juice, mild bourbon. Does not taste like 15.5% whatsoever. If it is, then I’m about to pass eff...cvvccxv 33

Pours rich thick amber unclear with a beige head. Aroma brings candy marshmallow and other sweet malt notes. Flavor brings sweet Belgian candidate sugar regardless of the lager style yeast, with hints of vanilla. There isn’t winter spices present which is refreshing in the month of February!

12 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa, umich03jm! Thanks man! Pours a rich cloudy amber with a medium sized thick tan head. Aroma of big strong sweet malts and booze. Flavor is clean sweet malts and esters, apparent booze. Mild caramel and toffee notes. Full bodied, with surprisingly lively carbonation. Finishes boozy. It all doesn’t fit together perfectly, but it almost does.
