3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ernesto987 (1519) - Connecticut, USA - FEB 21, 2011
This is smoother than the aventinus eisbock, the alcohol doesnt burn as bad allowing the palate to be appreciated, malty complexity and many layers of malts take over the body, worth a try
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bockimstein (165) - New Madrid, Missouri, USA - FEB 18, 2011
On tap. No head. Alcohol and molasses and bread. This will kick ones ass, but in a nice way.
4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 crossovert (2795) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 10, 2011
"The Original German Eisbock"
Comes in a brown bottle with a flashy "Ice" label. Pours a nice tan 1 inch head that appears very bublly and thick, you cannot see thorugh the dense, dark color of this beer.
The smell is overwhelmingly of chocolate, with a juicy(yes) smelling toffee malt to finish. The smell is pretty scrumptious.
Taste is a lot more bitter than expected, and its gooood. Lots of dark roasted malts, coffee like bitterness, and a very faint bit of molasses/chocolate sweetness in the middle. This is a nice robust brew with only little traces of its 9.2% of alcohol which isn’t overpowering, but its there and increases as it warms. Its got a really nice and thick mouthfeel with a fair amount of carbonation. It leaves a good amount of stickiness in your mouth and on you lips though you cant taste the sugars as prevalent as you can smell and feel them although it does get slightly sweeter as it warms with the alcohol.
Overall this is a highly worthy brew and would fit well in a dessert setting.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 arminjewell (3116) - Parker, Colorado, USA - FEB 8, 2011
Pours deep reddish brown, thin tan head. Aroma has surprising notes of chocolate, burnt caramel, some raisins and other dark fruit, along with a touch of roast. Taste is a bit less than the aroma, has notes of the caramel, dark fruit and other sugars, with a touch of some metal, finishing sweet, maybe a touch of booze. Pretty good, like the style!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 drewaha (79) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 7, 2011
Pours very dark brown with tons of carbonation. 4" head into a tulip.
Strong aroma of soy sauce with some subtle smokiness and butterscotch
Chocolately flavor with mild sweetness and a moderate bitterness that hangs on to the back of your tongue. Mod/high carbonation

Great beer, just has that thickness in malt and alcohol that hits you and makes you want every beer to be that good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 natejgood (340) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 27, 2011
Pours a hazy medium brown with a small beige head composed of small bubbles. Smells of light carmel and malt. This beer is relatively sweet but has enough other flavor to balance the sweetness nicely. Molasses with no bitterness to speak of. This beer is a little bit fuzzy in the mouth and is sweet enough to leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth after drinking. Not much of an alcohol taste for a high alcohol beer. Overall, not bad but also not a beer I would choose to drink on a regular basis.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HomeBrewHawk (441) - De Soto, Kansas, USA - JAN 20, 2011
11.2 oz. bottle served in a Blvd. Tank 7 tulip. Poured a deep brown with two fingers of tan head. Deep malty aroma with some molasses. Big, rich full bodied mouthfeel. Lots of malt with more molasses and caramel. Some noble hops to balance things out. Warming, but not alcoholic. One of these is plenty. Top notch bock.
