Commercial Description:
The ice bock, also known as "Bayrisch Gefrorns", owes its discovery to a coincidence. According to the chronicles of the Kulmbacher brewery, some time around 1900 an apprentice forgot on a cold winter day to carry two barrels of bock beer into the brewery cellar. The barrels stayed outside, were covered by ice and snow and weren’t discovered until the following spring. The barrels had burst and the apprentice was reprimanded. But the carelessness was a stroke of luck because under the thick ice coat, a bock beer extract remained, strong tasting and high in alcoholic content.
Even if the dark, tasty speciality is not produced in this spectacular way anymore, the chance that gave birth to this beer became a tradition. Today this beer rarity is brewed in a modern brewing and freezing process, but the incomparable taste is still the same and can always be enjoyed in winter months.

Bottle 0.33 l BB 250907. Dark and deep red, clear. Malty like mämmi, sweet, sugar, syrup, ryeish, spicy (anise?) and a bit fruity. Not very roasted nor bitter. Alcoholic. Very dense and sticky overall, makes your tongue go a bit numb. Moderate carb.

Amazing. The sweetest, succulentest beer man has produced. I would drink this beer before I went on a date with Carmen Electra. Unless she had a bottle of this. The nose is beautiful like a cherry pie covered in caramel, the mouthfeel is medium bodied with perfect carbonation and presence. Alcohol never presents itself even in warming times, and the finish leaves still images of dried overripe dark fruits all over the tongue. Amazing.

Godibilissima.

What seems to be a 12 oz. bottle. Aroma of very dark caramel malt. No dark fruit. Color is a clear, very dark brown; the beige head is very respectable. Medium to full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavor is caramel, toffee, roasted malt. There is a component that reminds of the old Grapette soft drink - arguably Concord grape (presumably available at Walmart!). Fruity and malty. The finish is not excessively sweet, and the gritty roast malt aspect tends to balance the sweetness. Malt balancing malt? Anyway, the flavor is excellent, and the palate is pleasing.

I grabbed this one just by visually shopping at my new favorite store here in Albuquerque (I have since moved). When the "beer guy" at the shop told me it was a lot like Celebrator and that I could even do a side by side tasting, my immediate thought was something along the lines of: "Brother. You are really putting your reputation on the line here." It was my first suggestion from him and anyone in the store for that matter. I took his advice though and took a bottle of Celebrrator to do a side by side tasting. The two are virtually twins I feel, with minimal characteristic differences. The Celebrator has a more roasted quality and the Kulmbacher has a sweeter edge...and also 2.5% more on the ABV. Overall I appreciated this one quite a bit and was surprised how similar it was to Celebrator.

Bottle from Hi-Time Wine. Very deep amber color upon pouring. Sweet malty aromas. Notes of dark fruits and even a little grape. Roasted malty flavors dominate. Dark fruits as well. Finish is a little bitter with roasted qualities.

Bottle, Beers of Europe Poured dark brown pretty good clarity, white head. Toffee like aroma, along with some molasses. Tastes quite rich as one would expect but sweetness a little overwhelming at times a bit barley wineish in that sense, still very nice beer that has dark fruits and is quite sticky on occasion.
