COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The ice bock, also known as "Bayrisch Gefrorns", owes its discovery to a coincidence. According to the chronicles of the Kulmbacher brewery, some time around 1900 an apprentice forgot on a cold winter day to carry two barrels of bock beer into the brewery cellar. The barrels stayed outside, were covered by ice and snow and weren’t discovered until the following spring. The barrels had burst and the apprentice was reprimanded. But the carelessness was a stroke of luck because under the thick ice coat, a bock beer extract remained, strong tasting and high in alcoholic content.
Even if the dark, tasty speciality is not produced in this spectacular way anymore, the chance that gave birth to this beer became a tradition. Today this beer rarity is brewed in a modern brewing and freezing process, but the incomparable taste is still the same and can always be enjoyed in winter months.

Strong strong alcohol taste - overpowers the other flavors. The deep dark color, with a full head is a beautiful sight, and there are certainly complex flavors in this beer, most of them are unfortunately drowned out by the alcohol.

Bread, caramel, and a bit of that distinct German beer flavor that I don’t know how else to describe. Taste isn’t boozy, but the alcohol warming sensation comes after every sip. Good beer.

12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at ~45 degrees F. Appearance: Pours a deep hickory brown, shaded vaguely with red tones, and forms a thick very pale off-white head with good retention. Lacing is decent. Smell: Deliciously malty, dark yeasty bread and lightly roasted grains. Taste: Thick, warm, yeasty dark bread of several different types - rye, pumpernickel, pretzel, pandoro - fills the mouth, suffused with swirls in the loaf of a mixture of caramel and toffee. Towards the finish, a syrupy sweetness comes through beneath the bread, as if there were a toffee tree that could give forth toffee syrup. Mouthfeel: Full and creamy, though not quite as much as other eisbocks I have had. Overall: As with most eisbocks I try, this is a joy to partake in. It has less dark fruit aspects than some of the others, but more bready malt aspects. I’m a fan.

Always an interesting beer, which in its day was a powerful beer. Now it seems to fall in the middle of the pack. Strong malty and alcohol aroma. Dark brown molasses color. Medium body. Burnt sugar and alcohol flavor.

Bottle. A- Raisins, dark fruits, caramel, alcohol. A- Deep ruby color, clear dark liquid liquid, light brown head. T- Raisins, dark fruits, caramel, spices, boozy. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, strong finish. O- Wow, this was a lot stronger than I expected. My first Eisbock as well. Tons and tons of raisins on the nose and palate. Not sure I liked it extremely well, but it was a solid beer. Very concentrated taste too. I almost want to dilute this with water.

Valódi egyéniség rejtőzik a palackban, mely szabadjára engedve sem vetkőzi le kifinomult jellemét.
