UPDATED: MAY 26, 2009 Bottle@BlindTastingSession: Caramel malts aroma. Amber colour, large beige head, good lace. Very sweet that even increases in the finish, light bitterness, hint of malty sourness, very malty with some milk chocolate. Sticky mouth feel. Much better than I remembered from my first try. This almost heads for Andechser! Bottled, Jan 2005, 2.3: Caramel and sugar aroma with slight skunkiness of typical German lager hops. Orange brown color, beige head that diminishes fast, few lace. Very sweet and sugary butterscotch, light bitter, very sticky and light warming. Not a great example of German bocks.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 27, 2012
Half litre flip-top bottle obtained at Nurnberg railway station and reviewed in my hotel room while staying in the city during the 2009 AltstadtFest. The beer had a best before date of 31st Aug 2010, so almost a year left. An off-white head sat on top of a good looking clear amber coloured body. The smell and taste was of caramel and molasses, but not overly so, just waek hints really. I was very dissapointed with this beer to be honest, obviuosly a supermarket/nightshop sort of beer in my opinion, not a well crafted beer at all.

Thanks for the bottle Gabriel! Poures a clear bright amber color with a light tan head that falls slowly. Smells of rich malt, caramel, bread. Taste is up front e rich malt with the sweetness and toffee flavors it ends dry with lingering richness. Active carbonation and medium body. Overall a pretty nice beer.

Bottle. A clear medium amber beer, with a large, frothy, rocky, lacing, mostly lasting white head. The aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread/nuts, caramel), lightly hoppy (grass), with only a light touch of vegetables. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, quite long finish with moderate bitterness, lightly alcoholic. A drinkable, perhaps a tad too sweet, but pleasant lager, with no particular flaws.

From bottle. Pleasant aroma, caramel and a little fruitiness. Taste has caramel, little yeast, little noble hops. Sweet, finishes well. Not bad

(Bottle) Pours nut brown with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is caramelly, bready and herbal. The flavour is light to medium sweet and near medium bitter with notes of bread, caramel and herbs. The mouthfeel is clean and a bit too hard for my liking. Light carbonation. Medium bodied.

Brilliantly clear, toffee tinged pour. Small white head with a bit of lacing. Slight malt aroma. Big roasty and malt taste. Slightly sweet with a medium body. Finishes clean. Not too bad.
