The naturally-cloudy Mönchshof Kellar beer is the result of Mönchshof's centuries-long brewing tradition and of the love of traditional beer brewing. This amber color, mild beer appeals to lovers of unfiltered beer, the way it used to be. A tradional Mönchshof beer specialty.

Dark amber cloudy color, with high brown head. Aroma is malty. Taste is lightly bitter with thin body. Ok to drink, but nothing special.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2015 Malty aroma with note of baked bread. Hazy amber colour. One finger foam, quite good, lasts some lacing. In taste there is a malt, some of baked bread and almost unreconizable note similar to grapefruits. Medium bitterness with malty aftertaste. Overall it is well balanced, easy drinking beer.

Very good beer I thought. Good combination of flavors. I would drink this beer regularly.

Deep amber with medium-fine, uniform, 4mm tan head, medium-fast rate of decay. Aroma is moderate caramel, melanoiden, grapenuts, slightly tart grass, and slightly salty yeasty dough. Body is oily, a touch syrupy, medium-weight, medium-coarse carbonation with moderate burn. Flavor is lightly sweet dough and grapenut, slightly nutty, toast, touch of banana in there. Delicious! what a great sessionable lager! I love the body and the dry-grain quenching flavors.

Bottle. Pours a darker amber beer with a nice, medium sized white bubbly head on top. Aroma is very malty, some sugary touches, light and subtle. Flavor is medium sweet with a big malty backbone giving it some fruity touches as well. The subtleness of this beer is amazing, yet it’s a bit thin bodied at the same time. Not sure what to think of this. Greatly drinkable, no complexity and thin bodied, but certainly not bad in any way.

Drank from a pilsner glass, pured from a half litre. Pours a nice light brown/amber with nice head. A good brew!

Luppolo assente.

I really liked this beer because it is very balanced and has a very yeasty nose. It is refreshing at the start but very soon the malty character takes over. The finish is dry and makes you want to sit down and have another "Seidla" as they call it in Franconia. http://www.beer-weekly.com/moenchshof_kellerbier

500ml bottle - thanks Marduk
Total cardboard aroma. Nice gold, decent head. Thin palate, carbonation quite high. Papery taste too, some weird esters too. Dry, and drying hops, leaves me thirstier than when I started. On a different day I might like this more.

500ml flip-top bottle. Cloudy dark amber color. Small size, bubbly yellow head, stays. Fart, cardboard, malty, acidic notes in aroma. Faint caramel, sweet plain malts in taste. Dusty notes in aftertaste. Some spicy down to earth hops too.
