The naturally-cloudy Mönchshof Kellar beer is the result of Mönchshof's centuries-long brewing tradition and of the love of traditional beer brewing. This amber color, mild beer appeals to lovers of unfiltered beer, the way it used to be. A tradional Mönchshof beer specialty.

Serving: from bottle purchased at Allendörfer. Aroma: lightly floral hoppy. Appearance: average, rocky, off-white, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Cloudy, medium-amber body. Taste: lightly citrusy initial flavor and finish with average duration. Palate: medium body, watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall: very good.

Pours a mostly clear very dark gold toward amber with a decent sized, fluffy, tight bubbled khaki cream head that hangs out and leaves some intricate webby foamy lace. Some sediment dispatch leads to a glowing cloudy redness. Nose involves rich malt notes of toffee, raisin and cookies, some leafy herbal hops, a delicate floral note, and some intriguing dusty cellar notes. Quite sweet, a fair bitterness. Medium bodied, creamy, soft, with a lingering herbal bitterness. This is exactly what I want right now.

Bottle poured into a dimpled mug. Nice aroma of malt and breadiness. Somewhat cloudy brown in color. This beer is mild, malty and not at all complex. A bit sweet and fruity and heavy bodied, it resembles a bock to some extent. Smooth and quite easy drinking, creamy and yeasty, this is a fine traditional Franconian brew.

Swing top bottle. Pours a cloudy brown color with a frothy off white head. Aroma is of malt, spice, and caramel. Smells very dry. Taste is malty, with affair amount of spice. Decent amount of caramel as well. Lingering toasted malt taste. Has a slight underlying burnt taste. Fair amount of grass after a few sips. Not overly tasty. Mouthfeel is light, and moderately carbonated. Its not bad, but its just not very good.

50 cl bottle. Mail order in Japan. Thought I had rated this. Dark orange-brown, cloudy, with a tall, airy, bubbly head. Malty nose, a bit stale, caramel, bread, light herbs. Bredy, rich malts, bit of caramel, rather dry, with decent peppery hops. Light stone fruits. Not in the best condition for such a beer, but not bad. Frelatively low carbonation.

Miedziane, mętne piwo o obfitej pianie, która zdobi szkło i pozostaje do końca w formie warstewki. Aromat przyjemny słodowy. W smaku słód i przyjemna kwaskowość. Goryczka niska. Ogólnie całkiem przyzwoite piwo, nie przynosi jakiś niesamowitych doznań smakowych, ale jest całkiem poprawne jak na styl.

In der Nase malzig, im Trunk kernig, sehr süffig, leicht bitter. Durchaus lecker. Im Abgang mir etwas zu wässrig. Aber der Antrunk macht Lust auf mehr.
