COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our gold-yellow Mönchshof Country Beer impresses by its recipe. The finest spicy hops produce its full-bodied aroma. Its aromatic malt flavor comes from noble summer barley. Special proprietary yeast and the soft water, ideal for brewing, from the pristine springs of the Fichtelgebirge add to its traditional export beer character. A real pleasure.

500ml fliptop bottle - thanks Marduk!
Is this the same as the maingold landbier? The commercial description and label are different, and there’s no mention of ’maingold’ on the label at all, and mild wurziges in its place. Slightly starchy malty aroma, but some nice grassy hayey hops too. Simple smooth palate, pleasant carbonation. Nice full lager malts in the mouth, slightly papery, but also herbal and hayey hops. Finish is just the hops, with a hint back to the starchiness, but also some sweetish bready malts. Good lager, perhaps just a bit too sweet to be crisply refreshing, but a nice sessionable evening quaff. Underrate?

Clear golden with a big slowly dissipating white head, leaving some lacings. Aroma is clean with grassy citrus notes, bread and pale malt. Taste is slightly more lemonade-like sweetish with citrus zest, bread, honey, grass, slight bitter in the finish with minerals. Light body, medium carbo. Good drinkability.
