Bottled, 500ml at Alter Kranen, Wurzburg, Bavaria. Virtually black with cream head. There is certainly a darkly roasted coffee, malt element to this once you have fought your way through over carbonation, damn them. Fruity sweet, some liquorice too, even hints of tar. Getting there.

That’s a bad beer. Tastes like livestock feed/molasses. Who cares about tbe black color and no head.

SWING-TOP 50CL from ciocanelu. Thanks, Silviu. Look: deep red-brown and clear, orange-beige creamy head. Aroma: strong malt character, grainy, toasted, light roast. Taste: dark malts, bready, filter coffee, co2, very weak hop bitterness, a dash of ashes, dry, no caramel sweetness. A good drinkable schwarzbier.

500 ml bottle poured into glass mug. Murky reddish-brown hue with a ridiculously large (mostly the result of a bad pour on my part) creamy tan head with good retention. Medium intensity aroma of molasses and cocoa with some grassiness and lactic tartness. Flavor is very smooth with a lot more chocolate character than I was expecting combined with nuttiness and a dry, slightly bitter finish.

Pours a dark ruby redwith a decent off white head. Aroma is all grain and malt. Taste is much of the same..nothing to it. If you like German dark beers you’ll like this...I didn’t.

Bottle. Pours in a nice dark cloudy brown, with creamy yellow-brownish head. Aromas of cacao, dark chocolate, toffee and coffee, one can smell the roast malts very clearly and good. Taste is sour and dry, this is not a sweet Schwarzbier. Moderate bitterness. Fizzy carbonation, with a thin mouth feel and a great roasty-malty, coffee after taste. Very tasty Schwarzbier,

On-tap at Max und Moritz, Berlin. Dark-brown with a nice beige head. Splendid aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Moderate sweet with coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and bread with perfectly matching bitterness, quite tasty. Medium-bodied, creamy texture. Excellent Schwarzbier.

Shared a 50cl bottle from Trinkgut (Wittlich). Pours a deep brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted, coffee, toffee and dry fruits. Average carbonation and medium to light body. Taste is médium bitter and light sweet with a dry and lightly astringent finish. Overall, a pleasant beer.
