2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2007 Bottled. Golden with with white head. Boring aroma, mostly grains and hay. Flavor is better, with malts and sweetness. Medium mouthfeel. Bitter and warming finish. Quite uninteresting beer, but certainly drinkable. Maybe not with the Norwegian prices charged for it, but that’s another matter...(051206)

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
(Bottled) Golden color with a medium, lacy head. Dull, sourish, slightly papery aroma. Sour-toffeeish-caramely, sweetish-malty flavor with slight spicy hints and some diacetyl. Light to medium-bodied palate with balanced carbonation. A dull and boring brew.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottled. Copper coloured, not much for a head. Malts in hay in aroma along with some flowery and fruity hints. Strong hoppy flavour. Good for oktoberfest, but I wonder what the weihnacht (Christmas) does in the name?

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled (BB 06/2006)
Dark golden color, not much head. Fruity, honeyish sweet flowery hoppy nose. Very malty, fruity, chewey flavor, a bit harsh in the finish. Malty aftertaste, clean well-done oktoberfest-like brew but not very interesting and not very winter-like.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Medium white lace over clear golden body; looks like your normal pilsener. Good aroma of light malts, flower hops, and slight metal notes. Smells like your normal German pilsener, too. Sweet, clean, malty taste with hoppy undertones ending in a faintly dry finish. Overall pretty boring, with the hops being the best thing about it. Not a Christmas beer by Norwegian standards, but not a pilsener, either.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Swing-top bottle: Copper coloured; mid-sized, slowly diminishing, fluffy head; malty/fruity nose (caramel, honey) combined with some floral hoppiness in the back; warm malty and a bit alcoholic body; malty and a bit hoppy-aromatic finish. O.K. and pleasant, suitable for winter evenings....

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
(swing top bottle) Clear and pale amber colour with a frothy white medium head. Breadish and slightly sweet malty aroma with wet straw, honey and a dense hoppy touch. Medium sweet flavour, medium body and moderate carbonation. Sweet malty taste, crispy mouthfeel, short but not unpleasant sweetbitter, slightly hoppy finish. Drinkable brew but without any specific character to speak of.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Orange-gold beer; creamy, small yellowish head, fast gone. Very nutty nose, bready (brown bread), sweet throughout. Oxydized, nutty & sherrylike flavours, BBD is one year ago, but the aging is excessive. Virtually no aftertaste, beer stopping dead in seconds. Bit empty, tired MF, no doubt another effect of the aging. I think this is prematurely aged - even after 1 year, this a bit thick. Mind you, it’s nowhere bad - just tired.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle 50 cl) Fully golden beer with a small head. Lovely hop aroma with the hops also adding quite some bitterness. Not quite the body I would expect for a Christmas beer but still wellcrafted. 170701
