Pours a golden color which just seems wrong for this style of beer. Nice head with some lacing. Smell was of hops and some malt. I’m not excited about this one anymore. Taste was not what it should be with a big malty flavor and a mild hops. It’s more of a lawnmower beer than a winter beer. Average.

Schöne Weihnachtstypische Flasche! Die Schaumkrone fällt ziemlich schnell zusammen, Farblich ist es hell. Das Brauwasser schmeckt sehr schaumig. Im Antrunk noch recht herb-hopfig aber nicht so lecker, der Mittelteil ist etwas milder und der Nachgeschmack ist leicht bitter. Im Abgang bekomme ich das Gefühl das der Hopfen unreif ist, insgesamt ist es grasig. Test vom 31.12.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,6,7,6,14,7 - 7,15

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Im Glas schimmert das Bier goldgelb mit wahrer Prachtkrone, fein und hoch und langlebig. Sehr viele winzige CO2 Perlen steigen empor. Der Geruch ist hopfig, minimal muffig. Der Antrunk erfolgt sehr süßhopfig, kaum herb, geschweige denn würzig. Der Abgang zieht sich wieder etwas muffig hin, mit der Zeit immer herber werdend. Meiner Meinung nach nicht gelungen.

Bottle. Aroma of malt, a little bit of caramel and yeast. Golden yellow colour with white head. Malt flavour with some caramel and a hint of orange. Soft mouthfeel. Slightly bitter finish.

Bottle from Galeria Kaufhof, Berlin. Pours a clear deep golden body with a big creamy head. Nose is pale malts, hints of clove and...not much else, it seems. Very neutral. Taste is pale malts, crisp hops and hints of bread. Very anonymous indeed, and not much of anything even remotely resembling Christmas. Boring. Meh.

Gold blonde, small white head, a bit stronger ans spycier than a pilsner, somewhat more full-bodied and drier. Medium finish and body.

,5L swingtop bottle served in shaker- a treat that my sister-in-law brought with her from Germany. Poured a transparent heavily sun faded copper color, firm and frothy one finger head formed and tried it’s best to lace. Aroma of hay and "Euro-lager" (some sort of hop combination that is very familiar, but can’t name it specifically for now) sensation. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt has only a pinch of caramel, gets a little watery in the middle, finish has a kiss of hops. A bit thin, but it was a gift, and I am not going to complain about that!!! Plus she said she would ship me more over... and make runs for me to Westvleteren... but I’ll believe it when I see it.

(Flasche) Das Bier hat eine goldgelbe Farbe, es ist klar filtriert und mit weißen Schaum gekrönt. Der Geruch ist schlank und süßlich und im Abgang ist eine hopfige Würze. Im Kopf kann man einen grünmalzigen Geruch oder ähnliches riechen. Beim Geschmack kommt einem direkt eine starke DMS Note entgegen. Im Hintergrund ist eine angenehme Süße zu schmecken. Die Bittere ist gering und sehr schlank. Die Karbonisierung passt sich. Alles in allem kommt keine Weihnachtsstimmung auf.

A bit darker than other Maerzens I’ve tried, also had more foam. Smelled grassy with strong hints of hay and straw. Fairly sweet taste with hints of grain and red cabbage. Reasonable Maerzen but there’s much better out there.

Gold colored pour. Big white head that quickly falls and leaves plenty of lacing behind. Smells like a typical macro lager with a slight sour note. Much like the floor after a kegger. Taste is almost the same with a bit of corn character. Sweet mouthfeel with a slight bitterness at the end. There are better Christmas beers out there for sure.
