COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“The beer that bites back!” Bastard Kat IPA is an American IPA, brewed in the style of West Coast IPAs. The light golden ale is topped with a thick white head. Generous doses of hops throughout the brewing process, including the hop back and dry hopping, give Bastard Kat a crisp, citrusy, hop aroma. Hop bitterness and flavor are both pronounced, making Bastard Kat a natural for hop-heads. The finish is dry and crisp, leaving you ready for another sip.

Draught at the taproom
Amber color, with creamy head. Good hoppy aroma, with a fruity and earthy character (some manure). Lean mouthfeel, the malt flavor is mild, the hopping is necessarily better, with resins, and a quite strong manure character again, very light fruity touch.
Pleasant, fresh, earthy.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2013 Sampled on tap at Kulshan tasting room, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of pure citrus hops and light biscuit malts to back. Flavour of citrus hops, bitter resinous hops and grainy malt to back. Very solid and refreshingly bitter.

Hazy pale orange with a fluffy white head. Snappy up front; smooth in the middle; crisp and dry in the finish. Bright and bold hops, but without the starkness you find in some IPAs. Malt flavors have light notes of sweet bread dough and white cake. Healthy amount of bitterness leaves behind juicy notes of grapefruit, tangerine and lemon. Painfully easy to drink. Fantastic IPA. I hope they can it soon so I can drink it at home more often.

Big citrus nose grapefruit, orange, pithy, juicy, fresh bright. Malt is a tad hay like, a little grain. Nice hop showcase. Golden pour, frothy head. Big bright citrus flavors, light grain note. Grapefruit finish, a hint of dank. Nice lasting bitter resiny finish. Good stuff!

What the gentleman above me said...this is exactly what Bellingham needed. It’s a beautifully balanced IPA with the standard citric profile, but also a really lovely tropical fruit component that is similar to Lagunitas Sucks, but more refined. The body is ample, but sprightly in the mouth, and each swallow begs for another. The finish is totally clean and lingering, and the drinkability is outta sight! Kudos, Kulshan Brewing, you are truly a breath of fresh air.

Absolutely delicious. What this town needs! An IPA that performs well in both the aroma and taste. Excellent clarity and well finished.
