COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Contract brewed by Trio Bryggeri for Kulturbrygg AS www.kulturbrygg.no "Rakaure" (= salted and half-fermented trout) touches the soul of Norwegian food traditions. This old delicacy from the mountain valleys has now spread all over the country. Together with "rakfisk" producers from Valdres, and other connoiseurs of rakfisk and beer, we have adapted the "Rakøl" specially to go with this dish. The beer has been brewed according to old recipes from Valdres, where hops and juniper are essential ingredients.

17.10.2003. 0,33l Bottle. Fin rødlig farge. Smaker ikke så mye som fargen skulle tilsi. Men allikevel helt ok. Hva som skal gjøre dette ølet spesielt egnet til rakfisk er vanskelig å si noe om.

(330 ml bottle). This beer is intended as an accompaniment with "rakfisk" (="rakaure", half-fermented trout) - I had it on its own. Golden to amber colour, good to moderate head. Aroma of hops and caramel. Flavour is well balanced, juniper contributes, together with the hops, to a nicely rounded bitterness. Not a bad lager this one. Would profit on a slightly higher ABV, though.
