draft at Zum Kummert Bräu in Amberg. first impression is that it’s clean, simple, mildly sweet with moderate hop bitterness which shows up in the back after a washing of carbonation. but then it begins to transform with temperature and as the palate adjusts to what it’s given. buzzing hop acid pricks the tongue before a bitter and snappy finish given by the wonderfully integrated pilsner malt firmness and noble hop bitterness. opens up further to show lemon and dried grass to accent the honey and baked cracker malt, resulting in a superbly refreshing and quaffable version of the German pilsner. to be honest I found it rather plain to begin, and would have scored it in the mid-to-low 3s, whereas halfway through the glass i’m considering a low 4 to reward it’s stunning soft and delicate texture all the while providing abundant pungent and dry noble hop acid. immensely satisfying.

Recht ordentliches Pils. Test vom 23.10.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Bottle, as 33er Pils. A bit unclear, small and stable lacy head, grainy-dusty nose with floral-hoppy aromas. Moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied. Shorter, slightly aromatic-hoppy and pale-malty finish. Pleasant and uncomplicated........

(33cl botte, as 33er Pils, 4.9% abv) Clear, golden colour with a lacey medium-sized foamy white head. Sweet, slightly bready malty nose with a touch of biscuits and grassy and woody hops. Light-bitter flavour, buttery and slightly papery malty base with a woody and slightly grassy hoppy touch, getting stronger towards the moderately dry and slightly bitter finish. Average Pils with Bohemian attributes (19.07.08).

Ungstrup (26250) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 3, 2007
Draft. A dark yellow beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has quite strong notes of citrus on a malty back ground. The flavor is sweet malty with a flowery hoppy note, leading to a medium bitter and quite crisp finish.
